When you make the decision to open carry, you are asking for attention. I can guarantee you this kid has been waiting for this moment, and has been memorizing all the Supreme Court cases for the video. While he obviously has his rights, he could have been less ****ish.

I think this guy is a d-bag. It's not common practice for people to walk around with guns on the streets, even if they have the legal right to. So if someone calls it in (as I hope most people would do) and the cops show up, you should be willing to show them your ID and proof that you have the legal right to carry.

This is probably the same a-hole that would complain when a bartender asks to see ID. You can't fix stupid.

I appreciate his knowledge on the subject and the point he was tryin to make. Not sure the LEO really needed the hassle they deal with enough crap as it is.

The guy was right, the police cannot make their own rules in order to stop someone.

If open carry is legal the cop should be able to ask to see his permit. If the people have to follow the laws so do the police.

In most cases if open carry is legal you do not need a permit you just can't be a felon. He was a D-BAG in the video but he was within his rights to act that way. I think both parties were really close to stepping over the line so it's a wash.

This is about 20 miles from my house, and the city is moonbat central. Having said that the kid, while in the right, was way too confrontational. He could use some communication skills training.

the guy was well within his rights, why is everyone so quick to throw him under the bus?

It is not common practice to walk down the street with your bow, But should you have to sit, beg and roll over at the officers whim for doing something that is completely legal?

You only have rights that you stand up for.

Good for him, sounds like the officer was schooled on this one! I thought the guy went about it fine, he knew his rights and just stating the facts!

He knew the laws, and was intentionally provoking a confrontation. Maybe trying to go viral for his 10 minutes. Legal? sure, Tactful? Not so much.

Guessing he was making a play on open carry, looks like Maine you have to show your permit upon request, but open carry says unrestricted in most public places? Guess Dmen could explain better if need be

    Informing Law Enforcement of Carry:
Every permit holder shall have his permit in his immediate possession at all times when carrying a concealed firearm and shall display the same on demand of any law enforcement officer. No person charged with violating this subsection may be adjudicated as having committed a civil violation if he produces in court the concealed firearms permit which was valid at the time of the issuance of a summons to court or, if he exhibits the permit to a law enforcement officer designated by the summonsing officer not later than 24 hours before the time set for the court appearance, no complaint may be issued.

    Open Carry:
Unrestricted under state law in most public areas

So what happens if there is a guy tomorrow who does the same thing but instead opens fire on everyone? Then we will be asking why no one was there to check this out. The kid is an idiot, I thought the cop handled it pretty well.

Then you deal with THAT guy. What if a guy who had a gun hidden in his pocket opens fire? Do you start frisking everyone to check them out?

If open carry is legal.. then it's legal. People who get freaked out at the sight of a gun need to get over themselves.

Yeah I dont agree with that at all...nor all the people calling him names and all that. He is right. Sure, maybe he could have gone about it another way, but honestly, what other way? How can you tell that cop differently that he is wrong and refuse to do as he says, which is legal? There really is no other way. Not saying I think we should all go out and do what he did, but he was right, and the cop was wrong. In reality, the event shouldnt have happened in the first place, since the law says, as the guy pointed out, that you can not stop and check a person with the sole reason of that person carrying a gun. The cop broke the law, or attempted to. Its gotta hurt a cops pride bad to be proven wrong, which is why he kept trying. But at the end of the day, he was wrong and if he sucked it up at first and moved on, this video wouldnt be out. Clearly this had been going on for some time because there is no video of the cop taking the gun in the first place. Im sure the kid after asking for it back and asking to go on his way, then decided to pull out his cell phone to make sure he had proof in case this cop continued. Its to bad the cop didnt just walk away in the beginning like he should have.

My only point was he was doing it purposely. Why else would you have a hidden camera rolling? Legal all the same, just isn't my cup of tea. IMO, wasn't much more than provoking a cop to beat you in hopes of a multi-million dollar suit
