I have really been wanting to build a SBR upper for quite some time. Since I am going to be down for a few months with some medical stuff after March 3rd I hurried and got the rest of the parts I needed and built it this morning. Will give me something to look forward to playing with.

Ran 100 rounds through it today with no sights or optics, just getting the feel for it. Really fun to shoot, the shorter they are the louder they go bang, that's for sure. Short barrel rifles can be pretty picky on the ammo they cycle, (they don't always like lower powered ammo that you see in steal cased or in .223 ammo) to my delight it had no issues with the 40 rounds of Tula .223 steal case I put through it, .25 cents a round for just messing around is a lot cooler than .45 cents. Cycled the steal
.223 just as well as the 5.56

The A2 flash hider may be temporary until I procure the funds for a silencer and the tax stamp later on. Not sure on that yet.

Any one else have any builds or projects going on to share?

That thing is pretty gangster, I like it. I can only imagine how loud it is. The 6.8 is pretty loud with a 16" barrel and a brake, I'm sure yours is louder. While I love that rifle, I'd be hesitant to build something like that right now because I'm going to have a tough time letting it go when I finally end up moving back to the communist republic of NY.

I do have a Seekins Precision billet lower sitting in the safe. No idea what I'm going to do with it, lately I've been saving my pennies for a pile of new treestands and a small boat project too, so I'll probably get back to the AR build next winter.

You won't be able to build that here in the good ole Land O Lincoln anyway:)

Sweet setup Scott, it would be sweet with a silencer if you go that route!

RJ, this is going to be my go to.... I have that feeling.

What is against IL regs on this rifle?

Very sweet!! How was the SBR permit process? Pretty painless? I'd love to put one together at some point.... I like how that Mur-1 looks on your Noveske!

Most of my extra AR funds the last 6 months or so have went towards ammo and some nice optics and PEPR mount for my varmint rig.... I've got enough parts to finish a couple rifles but I've held off because I think I'd like to get some better matching uppers and hand rails....

No sbr's, needs to have a 16" barrel. Probably overall length too, not sure but think its 28". Can't remember everything for sure from when I was building my AR but pretty positive with the barrel length.

No SBR's allowed statewide, some home rule municipalities still have black gun bans. Might be a way to do an AR pistol though, still somewhat sketchy for Crook county as far as places that will ship parts and such.

The SBR is doable though, just have to get a C&R license. That one was actually snuck past the rabid Chicago machine.

Yes, an AR pistol would be easiest, just swap the uppers when the SHTF.

From what I remember, you can have a barrel under 16" but the flash/brake has to be pinned and equal 16" with the barrel/brake overall length.

You can do a shorter barrel but it is a pain in the butt from what I have heard. I found the following link that explains the process.
