Im from south western Ontario, i currently have till the end of the year to bag me a deer with the bow and i need some help. We recently had a snow storm come through and the temperatures are down to -5 to -10 degrees C. I made a layout of my hunting area it is roughly 1.5km squared and im not seeing any deer out during the day near any of my stand locations (marked with the yellow tab). My main food resources around are corn stubble and a small winter wheat field. I seen about 20 deer in the winter wheat field tonight scouting about a half hour before light end. I haven't a clue how to set up on the river flats, there made up of the odd tree and tall grass and there always bedding down in there. All my trail cams show them moving any where from an hour after dark till a couple hours before. Any help would be great this is my first year hunting and i would love to harvest a deer.

Deer don't sleep all day ( like modern American kids). They move to feed and stay warm (and alive). I think treestands are superior, but if you don't have trees to setup in, ground blinds will do. Around here deer seem to bed down from around 11 AM to 2 PM. You just never know when you will see action so the best policy is to be out there hunting! You will learn tons but it may take some time.

patients my friend is all I can say you can set up food plots, set stands, and do everything you can but they might not be trailing that way for some reason. The first year I hunted I seen only 8 does but does were not allowed to be harvested for some reason.
But the second year I had seen 4 immature bucks and about 16 does, I had a perfect shot at a doe and I had to giver her up because she started laying a heavy sent trail and I couldn't ask for a better thing but night came and I ended up not harvesting my 2nd year... but good luck my friend, Also make sure scout, watch the moon phases, keep tight on the food.

Great advise, especially with the full moon right now.

I like the little inside corner of the hardwoods and the corn/wheat field on the N side of the river.
