Yea, I know. Camera at home, & dropped the deer off at my parents. So it's just the story. I had 2 red foxes running around barking at each other for most of the early part of the morning, it was really neat to see. Probably a breeding pair. Otherwise things were pretty quiet. Eventually I figured guys would start moving around and kicking up deer. And they did. Numerous shots rang out in the distance from all directions. Some targeting deer, some probably grouse. After a lengthy barrage from off to my left, here came 4 does hard on the run. All in one motion, I stood, snagged my bow, and drew. But my arrow wasn't correctly on the drop away rest, so I had to let down, & draw again. As I did, I was maa'ing to try and get them to stop. And they did, all right in under me. In a flash I picked out the easiest shot(which also I think was the biggest doe) and put the pin on her. My peep hadn't turned properly but at 12 yds it didn't really matter. The arrow zipped thru her and she barely reacted, taking a few hops before stopping 30 yds away. Blood oozing from her ribs, she staggered & made another short dash angled back at me before collapsing 20 yds from my tree. From the time I saw the deer until she fell, HAD to have been well under 30 seconds. This was a nice way to break in my "new" backup bow and the 1st time for me using Magnus stingers. Though a small cut, they put her down in short order.
