Ive got til the 28th this month to fill my 2 doe tags. looking for some tips on doe hunting. 1- What style works best? Still, ground, stand, spotn stock, ect. Ive been doing some still hunting lately and see deer, but i just cant seem to move in on them. 2- Calls?- Anyone have any luck with calling in doe? fawn bleet? 3- Scents- I have been using Tinks Doe P as a cover scent. Anything better? any tips would be appreciated!
I would recommend setting up on a food source. If you can hunt a food plot and setup with the wind in your favor. I would not waste my time on the windy days. But the more snow that's on the ground the better and the earlier they should come out before sunset. Don't know of any calls to use this time of year. Good luck!
Just personally I wouldn't try to use any sort of cover scent. I would try to stay as scent free as possible and not draw any attention to myself. At this point deer have been hunted all season long and I don't like to give them any idea that something may be there. As for the hunting strategy, I would say the higher up the tree you can get the better. Foliage is at a bare minimum right now and hunters low in the tree are more easily silhouetted. This is just my own personal preference of course. Do whatever you feel will be the safest for you, especially if there is snow and ice.
