If it is any consolation, I have low confidence in september hunting and the warmer temps are a drag (probably not the case for your area). It'll be here before you know it. Honestly where I hunted today is really an observation type stand that sees plenty of traffic and i can see a long way. Hoping to catch where a buck is coming out and go from there.

Yes I am. Same wind so I left my stand in place and I'm not leaving it anywhere for long. Don't care if it is private, bc nobody else cares either and trespass constantly.

    This ^^

My hunting buddy who taught me nearly everything I know - asks me earlier this year are you going to put that "runway stand up this year" aka observation stand. I said, why would I not put that stand up it's literally one of the only stands I hunt when I've got a meh wind or I am just trying to figure things out... It's literally harmless and oh yeah it's on a bean field that is completely closed off from roads or human contact.

Not enough people use them is so right. You want to be in the woods and hunt but you don't want to screw things up - hunt your observation stand. You don't know what the deer are doing and you want to figure them out - hunt your observation stand. You don't like your winds for your other stands - hunt your observation stand. You want to put a decoy out and try and get creative hunt the freaking stand that allows deer to see forever - hunt your observation stand.

Happy birthday Shawn! I guess I not only missed this earlier in LFTS but wasn't able to get a 50 point present for you either.

I love this time of year, but it plagues me in that I sit around thinking about my next move, go through all the scenarios, weather checks, best approaches...and it is distracting! Hard to focus on work. More so than usual.

I keep finding myself imagining tomorrow morning is opening day and analysing where I should sit.

Any of you guys ever use one of these? Got one for my birthday and I'm anxious to try it out. If you have or know anyone who has let me know what you/they think about it. 20200916_132954.jpg 20200916_132924.jpg

I have and it's all you need.... Unless you are on uneven ground, then it's a miserable combination of cuss words. Bring ratchet straps to hold the 150 on it though.

I’m doing that as well. I can only pray we have the type of weather we’re having this week especially am conditions.

I don’t hunt a lot of mornings in early October but mostly because I’m tied up with work during the week and only having 1.5 properties to hunt and 2 hunters I try and not lean on them too hard in the early season.

But this year with my own new 80 acres I’m pretty tempted to be a little more aggressive knowing I will be spending half as much time on my juice as in the past. Question like you doesn’t become if I hunt opening day - it’s where do I hunt opening day.
