Some opening days have already come and others are about to be here. What are your last minute preparations to be sucessfull in the field this year? What are your goals for this year? To take a first time hunter in the field? Or get your first bow kill? I have hunted with a gun all my life and this year when I turned 17 I bought a Mathews Z7 Xtreme for more of a challenge and to become more involved. My goal is to get my first bow kill but I love taking my friends in the woods to experience things I am fortunate enough to experience all the time!
Stay out of the woods until you are ready to hunt. Sometimes the most tempting thing to do is to continually go in to look for new sign (i.e. Rubs, scrapes, tracks) you should already have your stand up or at least know what tree if you have a climber. You've done the homework. So, stay away until Opening Day!! I found a nice 10pt shed where I'm hunting, I hope to bag that big boy this year. He should be in the 170's to 180's this year but I have no pics of this guy. Saw him two years ago when he was an 8ptr. haven't seen him since. That's my goal.
