Imagine struggling all season to get deer to come close enough to get a decent bow shot.. that's how my season had been...sit in one spot only to have deer walk out 75 yds away (yet only 30 yds from your 2nd choice)... season after season of seeing deer all over, but none close enough for a good shot..or they were covered up by brush, trees or whatever else they could walk through.. well, on the last day at the last minute of shooting light did I get the chance on a big doe... she was the biggest of 4 that came out into the field that evening.. and she was nice enough to give me a slightly quartering to profile at 25 yds so I put my pin in the vital v and squeezed the release... 68 lbs on the string and my 564 gr arrow flew straight hitting a little above the leg but good enough to pass through both lungs and stick in the ground where she used to be.. she ran about 120 yds and crashed.. she turned out to be bigger than the two deer my brother took last year COMBINED.. what makes this even better is she is my first deer with a bow...and...my first deer EVER.. I'll put some pics up later
Had to wait for my brother to send from his phone... I'm 5'6 (for reference) Sent from my SM-S102DL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

..yeah...nice to have the first one be a BIG girl like her...though she's gonna be hard to top.. except maybe with the 7 pointer who's roaming around
Good work, Rick. I waited 6 years for my first with the bow. Have had my ups and downs since then but it always makes the time, effort, and investment worth it when you can harvest a great deer!
Congrats! Killing a deer with a bow is not easy, so enjoy it. That feeling is the fuel that keeps me going through the dry spells. But sometimes the deer (and shots at them) come easy, so take what you can get and enjoy the ride!
Great deer, I am of the opinion that any deer with a bow is a great deer. So many things have to go right and only one little thing has to go wrong. So congratulations on a bottom of 9th walk off dinger!
