Some of you guys enjoy the steelheading pics I've posted recently, so here's a few from the last couple weeks. Still catching mostly winter fish on the smaller tribs, but getting some brighter fish on the bigger rivers. Occasionaly, we get a fish with its snout pushed in. Not sure why. They always seem to be doing just fine. My best guess is can injury they suffered when they were young. A closeup of a rainbow caught on a recent steelhead trip. The photo quality is pretty poor, but here is a nice hen I caught today. She was definitely a chubby girl.
I noticed u did not include the colors or style of bait u were working, is that on purpose (lol) great pics.
Nope, no secret. The best flies lately have been nymphs such as stones, caddis, and hex. Egg flies in shades of yellow and orange as well as clown eggs have also been working. Swung streamers are starting to take some more fish now that the water temps have been hitting the upper 30s on sunny days. Natural colors (olive, tan, or black) have been working best.
