Well here in Idaho we don't get mulitiple doe tags, its an either sex deer tag. I get 2 of those per year. I filled my final tag tonight after work. I had one more day left to hunt (dec 16th closer this year) But my son has a Christmas play tomorrow so tonight after work, Dec 15th, would be my last chance to fill my 2nd tag. With about 1/2 hour of light left I had already decided that I would take a good doe over any buck but a stud buck. Sure enough, like a gift, she came down off the ridge and made her way past my stand feeding, I made sure there was NO sign of a buck in tow...as she came along on the brushy timberline around me. I drew and double lunged her at 12-13 yards quartering past me. She bolted like a rocket as my 524 grain arrow blew through both lungs and out the the far shoulder. I watched my arrow flop on the snow as she spun around over it and ran. She made it 65 yards and expired in 15-20 seconds.

Its been a great season of whitetail hunting. I couldnt help but be very thankful for this meat for the freezer, its the first year in several that I didnt kill an elk so we need every deer we can get. With 2 whitetail bucks and 1 doe the freezer is starting to look ok. I still have a trip to Montana for does in Jan with my longbow. Thanks for sharing my season guys, again I tip my hat to all you guys.

Here are a few pix from my Dec Doe and my Oct and Nov Bucks.. My 2009

Hahaha yep I have changed my ways brother.. I have now officially killed 2 does in my LIFE! one in ND and one here.. This doe is the first Doe I have ever shot in Idaho.. kinda strange.. eh! but its because in the past I would eat tag soup ...big buck or bust.. etc.. I would have last night too if I had killed and elk.. for meat ...
