I decided to take advantage of the last evening of the Ohio deer season tonight. I had an urban antlerless tag that I was pretty sure that I was going to have to eat. I wasn't really expecting to see anything, but about an hour into my sit I saw two deer off in the woods about 80 yards away. The wind was perfect and they were coming right to the clearing near my stand.

The first deer stopped broadside at 20 yards and I nailed her. I knew she was hit hard. Sweet! I can go recover my deer and be home way before halftime. Not exactly.

I followed a good blood trail, but ended up pushing the deer. I knew it was mortally wounded and backed out. So much for making it home to see the game. I actually sat in my truck and listened to it on the radio. Anyway, four hours later I recovered the deer and finally made it home.

Congrats!!! At least you recovered her. I would have missed the game in a heartbeat to go out.
