Well of the two dog house tower blind replacements, the last is almost done. I got to Harbor freight to get camo tarps to cover the panels and make upper walls. This is a way simpler build the door is a solid stall door. I did no wrap the Stainless steel wall panels I will attach the tarp over the outside to frame. The Windows will be a simple cloth covering for this year, hinged Windows year. This blind is way smaller than the last.. upper walls and roof to finish . Won't be done before doe week.I have New Doc appointment tomorrow. But will be finished before bow season. It is ready as an open blind at the moment though.
Well jut need to do upper walls, window frames and finish sides of roof. That said huntable as it is in fair weather. At least roof is on .
Finished, just in time to be chased home by a monster thunderstorm. Windows are cloth covered for this year with multiple positioning hooks to see, block winds, block viewing me and for shooting. Used scraps from my sewing bin. Stapled bottoms out side so rain and snow will slide /melt down and out not in. Tweaks like solid, windows and painting inner walls will happen next year. All done for this year hope I gave some ideas to some and didn't bore anyone too bad Happy hunting...
Sitting here in blind across from one in pics. I'm thinking may have made the windows too deep. It's on a 8ft high platform but side hill so one side has me near ground level the other way higher. Looks like I need to buy some camo fleece Add a screw at each corner on side of fold downs. Permenatly attach one corner of fleece and make slits in the 3 others so I can slide over screws and make openings smaller. In winter I just leave them closed until I see a deer. This blind is on the breezy side of hill.
I'm all comfy in blind all but 2 windows open but I'm out of the fridge breeze. Finally figured out my reasoning behind huge window openings. 1.) built using a bow saw, scrap wood, cardboard tarps garbage bags, bathroom stall walls from a school, screws and tape. 2.) I planned mainly gun in snow so the vinyl covered window openings needed to be big to see out of. 3.) I couldn't cuts scrap wood length wise to make window frames smaller so opening needed to be bigger..lol The vinyl see through has held up nicely. Though should have washed dust off. Note to self.
