First some background. This isnt a food plot that was planted on purpose but it will probably end up serving in that role. After we harvested the corn for cow feed, we planted a cover crop to help hold the soil and nutrients in place until next spring. when I found out what was included in the seed mix, I knew right away that this field will draw deer from the neighboring ground. Deer already pass through our pasture as a travel route so I see no reason for them not to stop and feed.

The cover crop includes oats, peas, turnips, and radishes.

There is no cover directly around the field. There is a bedding area adjecent to the south west corner that is not our ground and there is a heavily wooded pasture across the road to the east. The only cover that the field itself has to offer is a draw that runs diagionally from the southwest to the north and then flattens out on the north end of the field (marked in blue)

My first thoughts are to hang tree branches from the fence posts and make mock scrapes to hopefully lead deer toward the blind that's set up along the north fence where the draw opens up. (yellow marks)

Please share your ideas and thoughts.
