Know there's some guys on here so got question. Was talking to my mom today and she wants to trim or take out the bushes that's in front of house. They're close to 5 and half or 6 foot right now and i usually just keep them trimmed during spring and summer while go over and mow. So guess my question is if went in now and cut them down about half as tall would they come back around in spring or would it kill them off. I'd probably haveta break out chain saw so that's why idk if they'd survive cutting a good chunk of what I'd call the main trunk. I'm guessin it's probably 50/50 if they'd survie but idk if there's better way to go about it. My landscaping expertise aren't that great.

Would just rip em out but i know if did be back in spring to put more in cause she wouldn't like it. And could call someone local but I'm pretty much done for year with work and don't have anything else better to do. And if anyone needs to know what they are, idk best i could do was take pic cause a bush is a bush to me ha.

Ha eh if comes to that, be using mini excavator. Don't feel like replacing siding and possibly a window. Not that it would probably happen but that's how my luck goes.

Depends on the bush, you are supposed to trim them back slowly, one big cut and they will be bare. They will grow back but won’t be as full, eventually they should recover.
Worst case; trim them thin now and see what happens come spring. If they don’t bloom correctly, the ground will be softer to pull them out and easier to fill in the holes.

In the spring when the frost comes out and the ground is wet they will pull out with a truck.

Haha sounds like general consensus is to pull them out. Guess shoulda stayed on them little better to begin with. But trimming bushes is pretty low on to do list. Guess if all else fails could start hacking away and see what outcome is on on and make decision. There's really no attachment to them other then having the feeling she won't like how bare it looks. Next week is supposed to warm up some here so guess can mess with it then if ground thaws some. We're digging footing tomorrow for little garage so will have good idea how much frost there is.

Makes mothers day shopping easier to replace those bushes come spring.
