I plan to go and spray for weeds one day this week. Also have gotten some good rain to pound my seed in the ground and hopefully germinate really soon.
Made it up to spray for broadleafs, the grasses I sprayed on the 20th almost look like I didn’t even spray them…. But the Clethodim can take forever to work. Will recheck in a week or so, it’s been 9 days since I sprayed, may have to hit it again sooner than later.
So all the old poles are being replaced around here. So I asked the guys what they were doing with them. Cutting into shorter lengths and dumping them. Want to dump some on my place? I have to get out of the trees and hunt closer to the ground. They dropped off a trailor load of different sizes 12 to 2ft. The small ones as foot rests in ground blinds. I have lots of fresh eggs and many many plant starts to share so they left with eggs, tomatoes, peppers and eggplants.

Went and checked on things, finally the grass in my new plot is all gone, and it’s starting to grow good but still slowwww. Also the broadleaf weed spray is working good, spot sprayed a bunch of thistles today too. Overall things are looking pretty good since we’ve been getting enough rain, although it is probably too much. Need to do some weed whipping next week.
Got some areas weed whipped, one more area to do. There was a very large bed in one of the areas. I will spray again for broadleaf weeds again that are in the clover, lots of them were dead or dying but there’s more on the way… the other area I nuke for a throw and grow plot later this fall.
I weed whipped the middle of last week and I went ahead and sprayed for broadleaf weeds again today, also fertilized at the same time. Everything is looking great right now since we have been getting enough rain this year. The new clover plot is filling in nicely. I will add some more seed in about a month, maybe sooner if we are going to get enough rain.
Well I had taken a drive around, need to do weeds issue at old reliable. I found a lot of good stuff in the rye,vetches clovers and lesser trifoil. Which goes by several other names. Concidered a weed but... 1. Fixes nitrogen 2. Adds soil microials like no other legume 3. Deer will eat it.
Well I'm loosing ground fast in projects getting done. HEAT, RAIN ,AGE AND A HUGE GARDEN. I went to garden to weed at 9 a.m., returned home at 2: 30 p.m... i can barely move my arms , weeding the garden the entire time..heat and humidity, weeds love it!
Went and did some weed whacking, sprayed an area for a fall throw and grow plot and over seeded the clover plots with more seed. Everything looks really good since we have gotten enough rain this year. Now I need to put up a bunch of tree stands and do some minor trimming for them. It’s been a lot less busy this year because of my neck surgery, it’s limited me with the things I can do without straining it.
We started this last year. It was two acre briar patch on finger that had bedding on both sides. There is small pond that holds clean water all year that roughly divided it. The briars had grown so thick that deer weren’t using it to bed any more, and went though it only in couple spots. We mowed and killed all the briars starting last summer, dug out of pond a bit and made nice grade for deer to approach it. Half we planted feed and the other half we planted tall native bedding grass. For a first year growth it’s coming in nicely. The bedding grass should take about three years to full come in and be a permanent native bedding area. we will switch out the food plots seasonly or until he decide what’s best long term.
