Some pics, it rained a good amount last night so some seed sprouting already. It is just crazy some areas reseeded 3X's nearly zero seed on the ground!
Some little new no amendment trails look way better than expected. Good for future amended soil plots. This is upper plots.

Apples way too many apples everywhere on the hill. My saving grace ,when all others are rotting on the ground this tree will hold way into November...

Finally got enough rain for the rye, also more rain coming tonight through the weekend. Clover is still looking good and the acorns are everywhere thick on my northern ridge. IMG_2117.jpeg IMG_2116.jpeg IMG_2119.jpeg IMG_2122.jpeg

Just wanted to post a picture of my giant myscanthis screen I planted. This gets in to my tower blind, planted 400 rhizomes in 2 years, it has really turned out great. Cuts a field in two to give me access and screen off plots.

That is what I'll have the hazel nuts do for the tree plot. Plus produce nuts and some deer browse.
    That is a sweet access

So here are the pumpkins some thought I planted too late. Rodents were the issue.
Rape starting to grow well in rye plots.

    Looks GOOD OND.
my pumpkins did not do well. To much heat/ lack of rain.
The rye was broadcast 11 days ago on black dirt. Got a nice 1" rain and they 20231001_084848.jpg 20231001_084721.jpg 20231001_084642.jpg came up real nice.

BNB... I think your pumpkin patch looks good. Just the right size to break open and snack on. I would have had many more on those two surviving vines had the rabbits not munched on the baby pumpkins as they started. FENCING and yes I'll be bunny hunting this season they are everywhere!

Well sitting in tree plot blind taking inventory counted 31 Norway saplings doing well around me. Will need to do a bit of transplanting this spring great cover wind breaks but they get too tall in shading. They do survive several year of topping as seen by one infront of blind.
So don't have to worry about hubby wanting me to harvest the chestnuts for him any more. I picked a few hand full to roast when he was ready. Put them in a plastic dish on kitchen table. He's having coffee before work and looks in plastic dish. To find it full of wiggling grubs. Boom end of roasted chestnuts ever...lol
