Right around the corner from my house...second pic rub is bigger then my leg....found dozens more that were wrist sized..

sadly this is state land that is off limits to hunting..it is probably 600ac in Roswell that has walking trails.. I always get off the trails and go cross country..

I keep hoping at some point the will allow limited archery only hunting by a draw.. At least I know where to go shed hunting...

I found a post at the corner of one of our farms the other day that is a fiber optic cable marker right on the road bank that has been rubbed hard. I was in a hurry and on a mission or I would have snapped a pic. I have to go tend feeders over there later this week, I'll get a pic of it then. I about messed myself.

How far around the corner is it??? Close enough to entice them to your property?

Forget the suburbs. i'm sure there's signs. but from my experience hunting on small private access in the city limits. most deer in the city limits are so nocturnal. that you cant hunt 30 mins before sunrise and 30 min after sunset.

you don't know the GA suburban deer then.. In the Roswell area they are like pets and wonder around the suburban yards all times of the day, they are not hunted or at least the hunting is limited..no pressure = petting zoo almost in some areas and forget about finding access...

The biggest deer killed in the state a few years ago was killed about 5 miles from my home mid 160s I think.. but the deer was almost tame. Great buck but hard to take a lot of pride in a buck the neighbor kids named..lol

The same deer in a more wild setting probably would have been all but unkillable..

I don't know Georgia, but suburban deer hunting in general yes. I'm talking both sides of the grass, If youre back yard around the neighborhood has couple hundred acres that nobody disturbs the deer. It might work if the city lets you hunt your own backyard. If you forget hunting private access and you got allot of folks hunting one big deer in their back yard and those public urban parks. Well you cant trespass on peoples backyard so you got to find another place to hunt like public or private. Only way if there like pets if the neighborhood feeds the deer. I've seen it and talked to people that feed deer in their backyard. I tell you what People have taken some suburban big deer only by hit or miss. I even have trail cams of big bucks on my family s private farm lease by the city limits, there really nocturnal. Ive hunted for weeks. ive barely encounter a nice one just a small 6 once in the morning the whole fall season. Who knows if those people that killed those big bucks by their back yard and urban parks are even legally taken. There is a relative that i know that knows one of the neighbors that poached a 200 inch deer by an urban park. he doesnt have a bowhunters club acess to the urban park. I think my relative said he killed the deer and lied to the dnr that theres a dead deer and he wants to claim it. But in the end they found his arrow. Jail, possesions taken away, and loss of privilage to hunt for a couple of years.

similar thing happened here last year, the same guy that killed the 160+" buck with his crossbow [legally as far as I know] shot a big one last year 160 to 170 class buck, he shot it on a 5ac tract of land near the river then tracked it on to some private property or state land using dogs. When they got to the buck it was still alive and one of the guys pulled out a 44 mag and dispatched the buck..bye bye any kind of record and hello felony..lol you can not carry a pistol in GA during bow season.

this guy owns a big tree service and gets access by giving away free tree work, which if you have ever had any done you know it's not cheap.. Hard to compete with that as far as getting access.. The things people will do for a big set of antlers..

This wouldn't be the first time the barter system was used to gain access to hunting land.

you are correct but a guy gives away $5k worth of tree work and does it all over the county it's a little hard for the avg hunter to compete for good ground...

And yes this is sour grapes..lol:lol:
