StealthZoom by Varizoom. Check out BHphoto or campbell camera. Just bought one, it's awesome, makes using the camera 100x easier!

looks like there are 2 models ... I'm not sure I understand what the lack of a auto/manual button on the cheaper model deprives you from ? can you explain ?

    Thanks

I've got the manfrotto one runs 229.99 at Campbell or B&H. Very very smooth, I'm running the same camera and fluid head as well.

For those on a budget, The Libtec looks like it has everything you may need. I have used a few different models personally and all I used was the zoom and record functions. I always run manual focus and use my left hand to adjust the focus.

I use an older model Varizoom that is similar to their current VZProF model. I picked it up off of a guy used with a camera package many years ago. It works and works well. But I tend to agree with what Trevor posted. I mainly use it for zoom control and start/stop of recording. So the link to the one that he referenced is probably plenty for what most of us need.

Good find Trevor! I also only use the zoom and start/stop function of the Varizoom. If it ever craps out on me I'll be replacing it with one of these for sure.

Practice makes perfect. The only thing that worries my over the Varizoom is the build quality/durability. Having to break the gear down and stuff it in a bag after each time can sure work things over time.

MAKE SURE YOUR CAMCORDER IS COMPATABLE WITH YOUR LANC REMOTE. I did notice Panasonic must have something a little different and there are some specific models for those. Also, make sure your camcorder has the LANC imput. My older Canon HFS10 did the the higher end models like it did the next model years.

Like that one in your link Trevor but I find it very hard to use the focus ring on my XA10 with it tucked in so tight and the ring being so small. Will that get easier with practice or should I look for one with a focus control also?

I used the Canon hfs10 before and that focus ring is located behind and below the flip out screen and is smaller than the size of a dime. The focus ring on the xa10 is in the wide open imo. I doubt you will like the focus control on the lanc remote. Also nice to have that hand on the camera for extra stability and smooth panning.

Think i just need to practice with it more. I was holding towards the top if the ring and my hand kept hitting the handle. Think i need to try holding the bottom side of the focus ring.

I have the cheaper one. Like others have said I find it has plenty of capability. I find for me I get pretty excited trying to "get the shot" and get the shot so more would be less for me.

Kind of confusing myself. Is this something I could use for my SLR filming too or would it not be of use?
