I'm laid up and lame. Been having trouble with a leg for about 3 weeks or more. Went to the doctor 3 weeks ago and got the prescibed treatment for some vericous veins. It got better but not totally. Went back today because of persistant pain and issues. Ultra sound reveals blood clots with one being in the deep veins behind the knee. Not real bad they say so i'm doing home treatment. Give myself a needle in the tummy twice a day for a few days to make sure it doesn't spawn anymore. I only have to do the shots until they get my new medications right. Said I'll be on it for probably 6 months. For the next few days I'm in the air conditioning with feet up and chilling. It was give myself shots or go to the hospital for a few days. They said I was a good candidate for home remedy and shooting myself. It's 101.4 degrees right now on my back porch so feet up in the air conditioning is fine with me. Besides that... my lady doc said I could tip a cold one or two or 4 with no problem. They don't give you a cold one in the hospital.LOL

David, I know how you feel. I went and had a MRI on my lower back due to leg pains, I don't have the official report back, but from what we can see, I may have a disc that isn't what is should be. My docs on vacation til monday, see what he says next week as far as treatment

You're a good candidate for shooting yourself? Don't do it, Dave!

I had blood clots in my legs, just superficial veins though. It took them months and lots of testing to figure out why. At one point, they had me thinking I had cancer. That was fun. I even got to wear the tight old man socks for circulation. They finally figured out it was the onset of rheumatoid arthritis in my ankles and toes. They said they had never seen anyone happier to know they had arthritis. I was just happy to know what it was...and that it wasn't cancer.

Good luck, Dave. Stay safe. Blood clots are no joke.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't do a doppler on you the first time.
DVT can be bad so be careful and don't wait around if you develop PE symptoms. [Nanny-ism over.]

Have a cold one for me and get well in a hurry.

Me too really. I couldn't see my regular doctor the first time. Today I saw her and she didn't hesitate to send me.

Not to scare you David but I know a guy that died from clots in his leg, was a persistent problem and he ended up in the hospital more than a few times over the last 5 years of his life.
The shots in the belly, it's a blood thinner I suppose.
    Good luck

I know that. Serious stuff. One of my NY friends died from it last fall. His legs were a mess....but it was the clots that kille him.

Well, if there's a time to be laid up and have to sit on the couch in the air conditioning... this is it! :)

Gee, hope everything turns out okay. My husband takes garlic and ginsaeng regularly which inhibits clotting.

A cold one or two or two or three could help also.
