I just purchased a two man ladder stand so that I can eventually take my kids hunting with me. I am going to be putting it up in a few days and was curious whatever thought of the size of tree I need to choose for this so I don't spend all day putting it up and down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one and if I am not mistaken the instructions say an 8" minimum at the point of contact. Personally I don't like puting mine on any tree less than 10"-12". For rifle hunting 8" works ok but, when you stand up to get ready to draw, they have a tendacy to move some. No matter what you do always were a harness and have your children to wear one also. I know too many people who get a false sense of securitty due to the size of the two man stands. I am even guilty of it a couple times last season. Won't happen again.

I have mine in a tree to big! I have to move it. I put it up last year in fear of it falling but then came to find out that my safety harness does not fit around it. So I put up a tie down strap and hooked safety harness into that. I will be moving my stand this weekend.

I have one that typically goes on a big Oak every season. It's a big stand.... needs a big tree, preferably with vines. This helps break up the outline. If put on a smaller tree, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

The input you guys are giving is incredible and I appreciate it greatly. During my scouting this summer I had picked out a prime oak tree that is really big and wanted to put the stand in that one. Now I guess I'll look for a tree in the medium range to use instead due to what you guys are saying about too big of a tree or too small of a tree. Thanks again guys!

Also , ALWAYS , check the straps to make sure they are tight before sitting in them. It always seems that they
come a bit loose from time to time..
