The experts kept saying this year was going to be a La Nina year (hot and dry). I need to become a meteorologist! Be wrong most the time and get paid good money for it. We had over 19" rain in June and just had a 40 downpour that dropped another 1 3/4" of rain. They are forecasting another 2" - 3" overnight. I think this is more of a La Puta year than anything!
Haven't seen a drop of rain here in almost two weeks. It was 98 yesterday, 97 today, supposed to be 96 tomorrow, etc, etc. It has certainly been a hot beginning of July.
We got between 10-13" inches of rain here in June. (depends on which reporting station you talk to, I'm between 3 of them) My friend down in SE MO hasn't seen any measurable rain in a month and a half and has been irrigating his crops non-stop. I guess it's true. When it rains, it pours... (raining here right now)
Yeah, and I mowed my clover a week ago. Not looking good. Might be tilling under in August and planting clover/rye.
Round 1 just finished w/2". Round 2 tonight with another 2 - 3". The highway north and south of me is closed due to water running over the road. I'll be lucky if the dam on the 7 acre pond doesn't wash out with all this rain and the ground saturated.
We've been getting some here, but not like up North. But the rivers can't go down with you guys sending it all our way. Turn it off already.
Hottest June on record, here (I'm guessing that's in the 131yrs that gets a lot of scientists panties in a bunch). Haven't seen rain in recent memory. We've been under a burning ban for several weeks. This, coming off the harshest winter in over 2 decades.
Just got back from checking everything out. Water is running over the lane from 3 of the ponds that feed into the 7 acre pond. The 7 acre pond is 4" from going over the emergency spillway and 16" from going over the top of the dam. The creek at the bottom of the hill East of me is out of the banks (when it normally runs 5 - 6' below the banks. I got a feeling this one is going to get real ugly.
We've been getting allot of rain (not quite as much as you) here too Mark the last month or so but I'll take It being we've been In a drought the last 5 or so years here. This has to be hurting our pheasant pops bad being little ones are hatched out.
Well Praise the Lord! The meteorologists were wrong again! No more rain last night. Dam is still holding up. No more rain forecast until next Monday.
When did I tell you that? Or have you got more than one friend in SE MO? Yep... we're six inches behind our annual rainfall amount, although the couple inches we got over the last two days helped a bunch.
I got 4.33 inches Thursday night and the power was off for around 5-6 hours in the middle of it. My yard is a bit soggy to say the least.
We had a nice amount of rain last week. My garden is really taking off. (what hasn't drowned or been eaten by the rabbits.) I do like watching the fronts come through.
