Thanks guys. Shot was only 30 yds but in the heat of the moment I ranged the tree behind him at 35. So I held my 30 pin high and that's where I hit. He was a satellite bull, 4x5. He would have been a great one to take home.

Best of luck Kern. Hope they are screaming for you. It is a hell of an experience to get them responding and coming into your calling.

On the road. The timing is gonna be terrible. Be in Denver around 3AM at this rate. I want to push through my buddy wants to stop so we are playing by ear. Either way I'm on vacation and it just feels good to get going ! [IMG]

Made it out to one of the new acreages this weekend for a few hours. Didn't see any deer but saw a decent amount of sign, put up a camera so that will give me a better idea when the deer are moving. It is only a half mile from a housing development so I'm not sure how that will effect the movement, I've never hunted an "urban" property before. Anyone have any experience with a property like that?

I mostly only hunt small wooded areas. Where I live if there is 100 acres of woods it is a lot. The plus side is that they are less bothered by noise and signs of people and won't run when they hear a car or a quad etc. The bad side is that you tend to get more people in the woods because there is so much more access.

I've hunted a few spots in "urban" areas and found mostly does and some scrub bucks. They are definitely less spooky than big woods deer.

Pulled the card from one cameras. Just need some luck. HUNT0181.jpg

I'll be pumped if I can pull a doe off one of these acreages. Population is still an issue on both the big farms we hunt so I hate to shoot does on those.
