So I have some time to let you all know I live in Iron Bridge Ontario Canada and have been bowhunting for about 9 years but really committed the last 4 years. I hunt on First Nation reserve land and my own property. We have three stands we currently hunt: The Ridge, which is a permanent stand on a raised platform 14 feet up; will update more tonight...gotta run.
I'll be in the stand at 5:30am. My climber is on the tree and ready to go! Big pike are hitting hard right now in the lake our cabin is on as well for some midday entertainment. I caught 1 and lost a big sucker in a half hour today when I arrived. Updates coming!
just a reminder to post 2 pictures of you, your bow, and the deer (along with scoring breakdown if an antlered deer). I'm not trying to be a tool but, last year on mine and my son's teams we each had a guy that only posted one picture and therefore the scores did not count.
Hey guys. Hope everyone is well. Just got back from Colorado. Unfortunately had some good luck that ended badly. Elk were really loud on Monday but a front came through and things shut down on Tuesday through the rest of the week. There were some sporadic bugling but Monday was awesome. I had a shot opportunity on Thursday morning and the shot was high. I followed blood for about 300 yards and then couldn't find anymore. Spent the rest of the day trying to find any sign but was unsuccessful. All in all it was a hell of a time just wish I had made a better shot. Season has started here in MD so I will be out this weekend.
Well gentleman yesterday morning I smoked a doe. Went to look and it went on the neighbors yard. She wouldn't let me continue. We went back this morning and found her eaten up back on the property we have permission from. But....not only did I self film I also shot a second doe tonight as well and a nice buck. So my contest entries are done.
That's a bummer Hammer, better luck next time! Sharpshooter, holy cow. Job well done and it was nice meeting you Let's see some pictures dude! My opening weekend in Wisconsin was a bust. Perfect conditions but the deer just weren't moving. It's the norm for this spot, I'm not worried about it. I may go back next weekend, more for the fishing than the hunting, I was killing em! Illinois starts in about 2 1/2 weeks, that's when the fun starts
How far of a shot hammer? Was it a bull? That's a terrible feeling, hopefully you have some better luck with the whitetails. I'm sure it was a great trip none the less. I leave for CO Wednesday morning. Staying in a hotel Wednesday night and hopefully hunting by Thursday evening. We'll see how that goes. Good thing I am working night shifts before I leave because I don't think I would be able to sleep anyway, so pumped. I have 3 stands hung, ready, and waiting for my return. I have one more stand that I want to hang in a spot that usually has some bucks come through during the rut. It's usually only a small window before rifle season begins but there's always that chance. We wait all year for this time and it is finally here. Can't wait to start the pursuit.
