Really wanted to, but I caught something that gave me the worst sore throat I've ever had. This spot is a 4 hour drive, so I don't get there often. I've had a cam soaking since December and I'm really dying to know what's on it. I need to put a couple more cams up and maybe hang a stand, trim some lanes, etc.... Kind of sucks when your spots are 4,5 and 6 hours away! Thanks for taking the Captain role, Short! PMing my number Hammer
This would kill me!!! I would be so paranoid. Hope you get a ton of pics. Plan on getting my stands down from the top of the garage tomorrow. Hopefully get to hang them in the yard to check the straps and get familiar with some new ones I bought on sale at the end of last year. When they are up I'll probably get some practice in from them. Hoping to get out and hang two sets over the weekend. Have a spot right behind the house that I might set up Tuesday. We'll see how things roll out. On a side note it didn't get above 60 degrees today and it really had a misty fall day feel to it. Love it. Getting closer every day.
I was actually thinking about adding the long bow. I will see what I can do. I like the helmet and mask idea too! I'll see what I can get done. I actually pulled three camera cards and moved one of the camera. Did some shooting today. I recently bought a new Elite Synergy and that bow is so sweet. I'm busting nocks and vanes off arrows like it's my job.
Where I hung my stand today I have one lane that is about 40 yards, but everything else is 20 to 30. I am dialed in on all three. I just wish I had more free time to shoot
Yesterday was a great day to get out to the woods, too bad I screwed it up. I needed to go down and do some work on a property I own and then was going to head out to the farm to put up cameras and check stands. Did the work and drove out to the farm went to grab the cameras and realized that I left them sit on my work bench at home. After some cussing I decided to stay out until I have a reason to go into the woods. Talked to my dad who has cattle on this farm and he said he hasn't been seeing a lot of deer. I'm not surprised though, almost every field in the area is corn, no reason for them to be out in the open much. Looks like the thread name has been changed already so we are good to go there. Now we just need to get a couple more guys to check in and put some deer on the ground.
Hammer good to be teamed together again. hopefully we can improve on that 3rd place finish from 3 years ago. I think my team finished 2nd last year. That team we were on before was when I used the GroupMe app. it's really pretty sweet app. it allows everyone on our team to keep up with what happening. Everyone gets to see your message.
Anyone know buckjeezy or On Point? If not it looks like they are both multiyear participants in the contest so my guess is they will be here sooner than later.
Picked up my Illinois tags, 2- combo buck/doe tags and a fall turkey (in case one slips up and gives me a shot). Still need a Wisconsin tag, $160 though and usually I'm lucky to just take a doe up there. But it starts 2 weeks earlier, and I just have to do it. You guys all tagged up?
Haven't got them yet, although I should hurry because I might be able to get us off to an early start with the youth season coming up. September 19th and 20th I believe.
I have my tags and am pumped lol. What's great for the freezer here is I have a buck bow tag, either sex regular hunting tag, 2 doe only management tags, I can buy 2 more die only management tags on November 1st, and when I fill my management tags I send them into the state and they send me new ones. For as liberal/anti gun/anti hunting as it is here, they sure do let us kill a lot of deer.
Well since I know I won't have this kind of luck, I will be happy with a buck and a doe. But it is great to hope lol
Well you can kill 6 deer and I honestly don't think I've seen 6 deer in an entire season. Just call me the Kyudo Killer All Star. Haha
Lol well by the end of the season even with this many tags everyone is gonna call me the Kyudo no shot
Hilarious! Be positive grasshopper. I believe in you. Getting my license this weekend. We have pretty liberal bag limits here. So I could take as many does as I want with the bow and two bucks. Just bought an additional 6 arrows tonight, additional pack of NAP Killzone broad heads, and NAP Quikspin fletchings. Should be good to go for the season.
I get 2 buck tags and unlimited doe tags. We have several nice 8 or 9 pointer on cams. So I'm getting excited to be sitting out there and seeing what I see. I hope to put a couple deer in the freezer. Love that blackstrap!
