The wife has some kind of sinus malfunction, so she ate a few Advil and was in bed early. That opened the door for the Undisputed King to nestle up to the telly, crack open a cold Leinie's and enjoy a new hunting video.

Today's feature was Dan Infalt's "Hunting Marsh Bucks," as recommended by a few of my esteemed colleagues.

    www.bloodbro.com

While the video contained almost no actual hunting footage, Dan and his homeboys really did give a solid overview of their go-to methods to kill nice whitetails on public swampland.

In all honesty, watching an endless stream of impact shots and celebrities shooting deer on limited access land . . . quite frankly, that doesn't impress me. At all. A child can shoot a deer. It's not very difficult.

On the other hand, watching a guy open his head up and spill his brains into a video, telling you what/where/how and why - that does impress me.

Honestly, a big buck on the ground is a direct result of a great stand site. A stand site can't possibly produce a deer that doesn't exist. Finding the best stand sites in the best land you can access - that's where the rubber meets the road.

I think these guys do that - and do so using a very sound set of methodology. Does some of their success derive from being able to log a TON of stand time? Sure. But could they get it done if Father Time was closing the window? Absolutely.

Anyway, the video was highly informative, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The obvious positives were the documentary format, the narrators' obvious intent to tell you virtually everything they know about the issue at hand, and the chronological breakdown of how your season should be going, at any particular snapshot.

The only "filler" was a long, dragging monologue from Andrae D'Acquisto (owner of Lone Wolf) wherein he tries to paint a picture of himself as being some Average Joe and a master of swamp hunting. He then shows the video that we've all probably seen 9000 times of his giant Wisconsin typical.

Maybe I'm mis-reading the guy - but somebody who is as "connected" in the archery world as he is, with his financial resources and backing - there's really nothing "normal" or "average" about anything he does - as far as hunting is concerned. He's on a big buck 100 percent of the time. When you get to that place in life, you really don't have to find them. They find you. If that makes any sense... Anyway, he's their sponsor, so he gets the face-time on the video...

    I digress...

Great video. Highly recommended. Fast-forward through the Lone Wolf spot.

Peace out yo. Big day of shed hunting tomorrow.

I think you may be forgetting that Andrae had to put in his time to get where he is today just like you have. Don't discredit what someone is doing/able to do today, until you have walked in his shoes of yesterday.

I gotta disagree with ya Quik, I think your miss reading or missing something here. Andrea told his story like It was and I enjoyed It just as much as the rest of the video. He, just like allot of other successful big buck killers have put there time In and earned there success through hard work and knowledge, nothing Is a given as you know yourself. I talked with Dan Infalt yesterday at the Minnesota Deer Classic and we talked some about this particular video, I complimented him on every part telling him they did an excellent job. I also commented on the Lone Wolf part telling him I really enjoyed that part.

Each to their own I guess.

If you liked that one Quik, Hill Country Bucks is now available as well! :TU:

It's probably the next DVD I will be picking up as I loved their first video.

Andrae is a big buck killing machine and when he speaks you would be a fool not to listen, I know I have and he knows his stuff. He has some some of the most ill logical techniques and has proved they worked and I even use a few to this day!! Walt

You guys clearly put more creed in that guy than I do. I tune him straight out like a bad radio station. If that makes me a fool... LOL

I'm not saying that the guy's a hapless bumbling nimrod. I'm sure he's quite the opposite, in fact.

Just stating that I've seen how the almighty dollar and a boatload of vacation time can have a way of putting guys on big bucks. Skill? I suppose.

Like I said - when you're rolling with that kind of budget, and having your ass kissed from every angle - if you're not on a big buck every sit for the entire season, you're doing something very, very wrong.

If I had his hunting budget and rolodex, I'd be a monster buck killing machine too. That's all I'm sayin. :)

Andrae is the reason I can't watch Whitetail Addictions . He always looks pissed on the videos, even griped about a buck having a broken tine. Even w/o the tine, that buck was bigger than most guys will ever see, let alone kill. I'm not going to discredit him at all....he kills some absolute giants. But on camera, he seems to have the personality of door knob.

Couple questions Quick. First off, where would you be with the almighty dollar and a boatload of vacation time?
Next, are you really so sure that "you" could handle the azz kissin' as well as he does?

    I am out.

You must have missed the part where Dan said he and Andrae started out hunting the same public swamps and they were the only one's who were consistently killing mature bucks in those swamps.

The man has the 2 of the top 4 bucks ever killed in Wisconsin. There are a lot of rich guys, but I don't know many that can say that.

Sure, he is hunting PRIME ground now and has all the time in the world to do it, but world class animals don't grow on trees and they don't get world class by taking leisurely strolls through the woods.

It's strange, I feel the exact opposite as you and my favorite parts in both Marsh Bucks and Hill County Bucks were the sit downs with Andrae.
