He just got run over by an S-10 pickup, while me and a buddy were outside with him shooting bow... He decides to run across the road, I said, I'm going to put him up... because he knows better... went grabbed the leash, and he darted back across the road and got hit. It was My fault, I should have went and got him, instead of the leash... He's alive, but hurt...Both tires ran right over his body... He ran back to me limping on his front legs, and in pain. I'm worried about him Internally.... I took him straight to the vet... they told me to come back in an hour for an update, (exam, x-rays...etc) Said they might want to keep him over night... The Spirit of this dog is amazing, while he didn't want to walk he was still curious as to what was going on in his surroundings... licking, sniffing... usually dog stuff... sitting there he looks perfectly healthy... but like I said, I'm worried about him internally. Not your usual prayer request, but send a quick one up for Kodi for me please...
That is terrible. Prayers definetly sent. I was up hiking in Wisconsin 2 weeks ago and watched a dog that looked just like yours get hit by a truck. It was so sad to see. Hope he has a speedy and healthy recovery.
Good News from the Doc... A really bad sprained Front leg!!(wrist) area... Wrapped for two weeks some pain meds, and according to the chest xrays.. no internal damage... !! How a 34lb dog can get hit by a 4,000 lb truck and walk away with a sprain is beyond me! Thanks for the prayers guys.
Best wishes for your pup. I know that feeling and it's terrible. Tuesday of last week our cat clawed our pup right in the middle of the eye and nearly ruptured the eyeball. I've been working from home for the last week and sleeping on teh couch with her and wasn't able to go hunting last weekend because I've had to put serum in her eye every 2 hours, and meds 2x a day to try and save the eye. She has the cone on her head too so she can't scratch it. I don't have kids, but when something horrible happens to your dog like this that's got to be pretty close to what it feels like when your child is injured. We went in for the 3rd exam today at the Vet's and it looks like her eye will make it, but won't know for sure till the end of this week......
I'm glad your dog is okay and everything turned out fine! dogs are tough, we had out little dog about 20 ounds get ran over last summer, and he walked away with a couple road burns and a sore paw, but everything else just fine it was a pure miracle.
