.. this summer's Olympic team can beat the Dream Team? Do you agree? I do. I think they're far too long, fast, and athletic. LeBron may never lose another basketball game period now that he's got the championship monkey off his back, and I'd take him and Durant at 23 years old over Magic and Bird at 33 and 36, respectively. Plus as long as Kobe can still catch a basketball and shoot it towards the rim, he has the potential to score a million points. Of course, so would Jordan. Also, if you think basketball players in the 80s and early 90s are better than players are now, then I don't want to hear your response because your logic is already flawed.
I didn't know the Drury brother's played basketball? I guess if Mark sets a good pick for Terry and he has the speed to drive the lane there's a chance, but I really dont see it happening. Aren't they a little old for the olympics. Isnt kobe a pretty expensive beef?
If they played by the basketball rules of the 80's and 90's and not todays palm ball and take as many steps as you want, dribbling is only an option basketball the dream team would win.
Athletically, this team would be far superior, but pure basketball smarts and skill wise? I'm not sure.
They also don't play defense in the NBA anymore. I'll take Larry the legend, Magic, Barkley, and Jordan any day over LeBrick, KD , and Kobe.
That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Larry Bird would be guarded by LeBron. Larry Legend would struggle to crack double figures. Barkley would probably still be effective because this summer's team only has one true big, Tyson Chandler. MJ would get his. Magic was getting old when he was on the Dream Team.
You cannot tell me that today's game is more defensive oriented than back then. And so you take away Larry, you still got MJ, Barkley, Ewing, Malone, David Robinson, and Magic even at that age is still one of the G.O.A.T.
They just let people walk right to the hoop and lay it up or dunk it now. The rules benefit scoring because people want to watch scoring and the NBA does whatever makes them the most money.
Glory years be damned, turn Lebron loose in any decade and he outperforms his already astonishing numbers. The league had rougher defense back in the day, but the average athlete wouldnt even cut into a rotation on today's rosters. Kobe KD and Lebron would beat the dream team alone. Give em Chandler Harden and D Will and they would make it a large double digit deficit
Not real sure defence was better back in the day. They scored in the 100's with ease, and that was with NO shot clock. Knowledge of the game I think was much better back then. Players play mostly on talent these days. Even MJ stated how much smarter he was to the game of basketball after several years in the league. But to compare yesterday-to-today, it's never going to be a level playing field.....All just my opinion.
The entire world was rooting FOR the original dream team. The 2012 team will have trouble getting Americans to root for them. Sad but true... my nod goes to DT1...
