Wondering if anyone has used a kitchen aid meat grinder attachment and how it’s held up? Wife has the mixer but I don’t wanna burn it out grinding up several deer a year Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I don’t know anything about Kitchen aid grinders. I bought an LEM 3/4 hp last year. It paid for itself in the first year. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
LEM stuff has been good for me also. I was looking at processing stuff this morning and saw the Kitchen Aid kits for grinding and sausage, thought it was pretty neat but I don't know how good they are. My mom has the mixer and it's been fantastic.
I've used the Kitchen-Aid grinder attachment for several years now...works great. We did upgrade to a bigger size Kitchen Aid mixer a few years ago because we were worried about it over-working the motor.
I used the grinder attachment for years and it never hurt the mixer. The plastic housing on the attachment did start to crack along the seam after about 15 years. Instead of replacing it, I bought a 1 hp dedicated grinder. The kitchenaid is just to slow for the 25-50lbs of elk I do in one sitting now. The motor on the KA did fine, but the throat on the grinder attachment is pretty tiny. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
I have a grinder i bought from ****s about 3 years ago. I have been lucking enough to harvest 8 deer and i have grinder most of it. The grinder was less than $100. This May be a better investment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the KitchenAid grinder attachment and it works great. I only process hamburger from one deer a year with it. The throat on it is kinda narrow (like someone else already pointed out) so you'll want to cut up your meat somewhat small before making hamburger, it just makes it a lot easier and faster. EDIT: Also, I'm using it on the KitchenAid Pro 600 which has the heavier duty motor and it grinds fine. Not sure how it works on the lesser hp models.
You wont burn it out. You can run those things forever. I use the plastic grinder attachment and its ok. You have to make sure to have all the sinew or most of it off the meat or it binds up and is a pain. Friend has the stainless one. Its way better. As soon as I can I will replacing the plastic one with the stainless. Get the stainless one!
My brother-in-law has one and says it works great for turkey. Not sure if he's tried any other meat or not.
I use a meat grinder I got from Northern Tool. Works good on deer but I run it through twice, once with the larger hole plate and the second time with the smaller hole plate. Goes faster and not near the load on the unit.
I've used the kitchen aid grinder and sausage stuffer for a couple years now. Done several deer with it. Like others have said it does work however mine has also developed a crack in the body. It is quite small so plan to spend extra time with it.
