Hey all. I'm Kevin. New to bows and deer hunting, did alot of squirrel hunting as a kid.
My wife has been wanting to bow hunt for years and just got herself a diamond infinite edge, I really never even had an interest in bows. Always been a gun guy.

But after spending a day with her enjoying her new bow and looking at bows and bow accessories , I got bit.

Happened across a good deal on a used Hoyt Katera. It's naked so I have to set her up.
I'm learning that setting up your bow is alot like setting up my AR's , lots of choices, lots of personal preference and the ever present "buy once, cry once".
I can see why the "RTH" packages are so popular it gives you something to get bye until you learn what you like.
So any advice on setup you guys and gals have I'm all ears.

    Anyway Hello from Missouri.

    Advice? oh my....

Buy a rest that you like. Get a peep installed. String silencers, limbsavers, stabilizer, sight that works well in low light conditions.

There is just too many opinions on gear. I have a NAP quicktune 360 rest and I love it, if that helps.

Congrats on the bow! Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the site! My advice to you is testing, testing, testing! As with many people on this forum, I have bought and sold many pieces of equipment that didn't feel right to me. I have tried many different rests, sights, and other stuff and finally have found what works for me. Archery is just like guns, test the waters and find what you like. Happy shooting!

Welcome... get yourself to the local archery pro shop. Try before you buy.

Thanks for the welcome. Ended up adding an Extreme Challenger 4 pin sight and a QAD ultra LD lastnight.
Knew I wanted a fall away after trying out different rest at the pro shop, it was between the Code Red and the Ultra and went with the Ultra because thats what they had.
Could have waited or went some where else, but I've been itching to shoot and this shop has been extremely helpful So they deserved the coin.
Adding some Beeman hunters because I know I'm going to lose a few starting out.
Probably not going to hunt this year, going to spend it working on my technique and gaining knowledge.

Funny thing is with all the guns I've had and as long as I've had them, I add one bow and now I'm blood thirsty.
Guess a bow just makes me more primal.
