One thing is for sure after all of this they should make pipe bombs and other bombs illegal............I mean what if one went off?!?!
Chuck I know here in Minnesota that if you make and explode pipe bombs it is a felony, they take it very serious. They also get pissed when you use fertizer and diesel to blow stumps out. At least that is what I heard.....
LOL that was sarcasm to go along with "Access is the issue..." I wonder if some day we will have to do background checks to buy pipe for the home projects and stuff.....
Awe, too bad. I try to keep an open mind and will generally discuss topics if folks want to but that's one area where I have zero tolerance for the other sides arguments...zilch.
"If your not an American, I'm probably speaking for most Americans, we don't give a damn about your opinion of us. If your an American that defected to Canada, then we think even less of you".... (you are = you're not "your") This sentiment is very clear based on recent years of foreign policer or lack thereof. It will be the downfall of the US as you cannot dictate global ideology any longer and you cannot hope to police them. The fact of the matter is... you should care, and failing to care is the ignorance in this discussion. No, I did not get mad (I am busy and rarely have time for such enjoyable dialogue), I have no reason to get mad. I value differences; indeed it is diversity that fosters resilience. Failing to embrace diversity is tantamount to an ideology embraced by Germany in 1940. Semi or auto... no need unless for military purposes.... not ignorant at all. T
Policy? When did we ever "dictate global ideology"? Closest thing I can think of is WW2 and that was the allied forces not just the US. We sure got a lot of big thank you's for saving the worlds *** for that one. Instead we get bashed daily by asshats for our values that actually saved most of the worlds asses. That's lovely.
"Guns and the easy access wasn't a problem for at least 35 of my 45 years. There is more gun control and more regulation than most of my life and people still commit the acts. It is NOT a gun or access issue. It is a people issue. All the gun control rules do is put restrictions on the people who follow the law. those who do not, don't care if you pass another law or not." I understand and agree that access was not a problem in the past, but society has changed. Parenting is NOT what it once was, respect for life is not what it once was, economic divides are greater now than they were and all of leads to needs to change gun laws or and others. On top of all of this, there are more and more people all the time leading to greater and greater problems. I also agree that gun laws do affect law abiding citizens, (I was one at one time) but they also affect criminals when caught. To say they are not needed or access to some weapons should not be restricted because crimes don't care is like saying lets legalize everything or have no laws. We in a civil society need respectful dialogue, appreciation for others (opinions, races, genders, and religions), and laws that start somewhere! Great points.T
Pressing democracy, pressing dependence on oil, pressing changes in places like Iraq (and others) and the list goes on. This is the (non US) perspective that is important for US people to understand. YES, during WWII US efforts were great but so too were those of the Russians, the British, the French and many other countries who we hear so little about. History is typically written by the "winners" thus biases develop as a result. T
Typically, if someone makes a single grammatical error in a post, most people chalk it up to just a simple oversight. I'm well aware of how and when to use your and you're. I will use them in a sentence just to prove that I know. Your opinions on American policy mean nothing to us, sorry if that hurts your feelings. You're kinda being a prick for pointing out grammatical errors. Now, since that has been resolved. The United States of America has been and should always be one of the most progressive countries in the world. Our nation contributed more to the industrialization of the world than any other country, and it's not even close. We have always and will always welcome people into our country with open arms, provided they follow our rules and regulations. We are not an equal to countries like Canada or individual European nations, we are a super power. A nation with the 3rd highest population in the world. A nation that has been a leader in every facet of changing the world from the horse and buggy to an industrialized world. Weak leadership, like what we are experiencing with Obama is the only thing that will destroy this nation. His divide and conquer tactics of dividing the citizens and pitting them against each other is clearly evident if one just opens their eyes. So excuse me if I don't had the same believe as you do that this administration is doing anything right. He is a foreign policy disaster, and is in way over his skis.
Nothing hurts my feeling, so don't worry, I simply enjoy learning and hearing the opinion others regardless of how different it may be! Pretty sure many states are not permitting Syrian refugees into their state...this does not seem very welcoming. I understand their concern, but alienation breeds doubt, resentment, hostility, difference, ambivalence and ignorance. Segregation clearly did not work in the past, why would some states think it will work in the future? I agree, the US has been very influential in many positive ways. The picture however is not all that rosy and to imply the US is better than another country is sad. T
Those social issues have to deal with the fact that society has changed and as a consequence, laws need to also change to be relevant. The comment was a response to someone who said that access to guns was never a problem in the past. Many "things" were not a problem in the past but things change. T
I think you need to pay attention to what is going on in the world these days as the ones who are spreading and enforcing their own ideologies are the 'radical' Muslims. Basically if you are not practicing and doing what they believe you are a non-believer yourself and subject to their terror. Maybe the blame can be attempted to be put on the U.S. but the ideology they preach has nothing to do with us "Pressing democracy, pressing dependence on oil, pressing changes in places like Iraq (and others)" unless it's the fear they have that people will actually want to be free from them.
What crime do we not have a law for and punishment for today? Gun control is not making new laws to punish for the crimes the criminal commit, it doesn't change anything for the criminals, it only impact those that follow the law. Parenting is not what it once was, respect for life is not what it once was now those are things to actually look at, those are the things that have changed. How do we get back to the family values that we had years ago, how do we instill more respect for life in people. Now those are issues that could actually change and prevent some of these events in the future, those are issues that we should be looking at.
Why? Because, it's a right endowed to us by our creator and guaranteed by smarter men than you or I on a document that is the mos historically pertinent and valued in the history of man kind outside of the bible. Arguing against the 2nd amendment is evil and ignorant. I have no room for accepting either. Okay, you got me on democracy, the others are localized cases in which we were pushing for a localized changed based on our safety from voiced threats. I have no problem with my country being an advocate for democracy and even fighting for it in countries whose people want it and need help but are repressed by fanatical bigots and narcissistic, maniacal dictators. Pressing dependence on oil, that one has my wondering what the hell you're talking about. Yeah except those other countries you mention were losing their collective asses until we got involved. Biases? Those have developed mostly out of pure greed and jealousy and also out of the ignorant spewing ignorance and misinformation to the like minded ignorant and misguided.
