I hunt from the ground when the situation calls for it, or it's convenient or whatever. BUT, far more deer are killed from above. This year my two bucks were shot from the ground, one because I hated the instability of the stand my nephew put me in and the second was a target of opportunity. LOL BUT, if you really want to kill deer and stay hidden more..... I think a treestand is the nuts, plus I love the view.

You don't have to do a lot of BUILDING to hunt from the ground. I think you'll find it a lot more fun to do things like sit on a dove seat in a stream near a crossing, or find a hole, or cut a couple shooting lanes out of some brush, or hunker in a blow down or sit in a ditch. It doesn't take much to hide. The more you build, the more stink, the more anchored you are. Just hunker down in some STUFF.

I started on the ground, but don't hunt that way with a bow too often anymore.

About half the deer I have shot with my bow have been off the ground and the other half out of a tree stand/tri-pod:uzi:

I love hunting off the ground. But, unlike many I get the same rush in a stand as I do out of a ground blind. But thats just me
