Yep, lots of time left! I hope I can get a doe to add with my buck.
All of the mid west guys are waiting on November. Then it will get good!

I might get one hunt in this week after work if the weather holds out. I'll go out in rain, but not pouring rain!

Next week I am hitting some public ground where I am hoping to put down a doe unless I can get on a decent buck. Buddy has been hunting some recently purchased state property and has been passing nice bucks daily since he got his 160" on 10/3. He's sending me the GPS coordinates for some stands sites (I'll of course scout myself) for the property. It is 1.75 hr drive from the campground I'm staying at next week, but I am seriously considering hitting that property also as he is raving about it.

I got out last evening. I thought it would be a great hunt. Great moon time plus the rain stopped after 3.5 days of raining. Saw no deer while on stand, walking or driving home. Did not expect to see nothing. Next week will be hitting public land for the week. Hope to at least see some deer!!

Well where do I begin. It rained so much the pass few days. Figures my days off. It rained over night, the fog rolled in also. I was waiting for day break. I was there about 20 min before shooting time. The fog was thick. I looked at my watch and said its shooting time. However I couldn't see very far so I sat there still. A few minutes by and I said to myself I am not going to hear them, until they are up close. Then I looked over to my right and there she is 20 yards away. I am still sitting. Oh crap!!!!! Well I made it to stand and grab my bow. She looks right up at me. BUSTED. She left before I can get turned. Not sure if I could have shot. Real thick fog

    Sucks

Hang with it. You'll get another chance.

I leave in 23 hours for a week of public land hunting in southern IL. Will be hunting these properties a few times over the season beginning tomorrow. If the pressure is low, which it should be for this early in the season, I will try to kill a doe while observing for a buck I'd like to chase! Good luck guys.

Well boys, I'm in a tree in West central IL finally. Hunters are complaining about the lack of deer, but I have plenty of sign back where I am. Hunting a creek crossing in some steep terrain. Just hoping to see some deer. Down here hunting thru Friday.

Good luck this week Rizzo. I got out Saturday morning, kicked 6 out of the bean field right by my stand on the way in. I couldn't tell what they were. I could just see the flags. I hate when that happens. lol. I didn't see anything while I was in the stand. Saturday night I seen one Doe.

Good news, bad news. Shot a doe this AM. Lung and liver. Unfortunately it ran onto private land. I contracted the owner who would not let me onto his land. I even offered money just to retrievey deer. So much for being respectful of his land. He told us last time he granted permission to a hunter to get a deer off his property they found the guy hunting his land. Will keep hunting.

Yep sucks the guy just lets the deer rot. If ya kill a buck and he does that just keep it on the D.L.
