Was hoping to get out this AM before work, but had some ol' friends swing by last night around 9:00 and hang out with me to celebrate my 40th b-day yesterday. Damn friends...they screwed up my AM hunt as I could not get them out of the house until 12:45 this AM! I'm actually glad they did as AM hunts are not too productive for me until around the last week of Oct so I'm glad I did not burn out any properties early as I am anxious to get out. Anyways, hoping to get out this afternoon for the IL opener today.

First buck I have gotten this year on cam. Not a monster for sure. I will be hunting this small 10 ac property tonight mostly looking for a doe, but there is a very large buck working thru this area per landowner. Of course, to the landowner this might be the big buck.

Happy belated B-Day Rizzo. Glad to hear you were able to finally get out. They are forecasting a high in the upper 40's here on Saturday, woo hoo ! Shouldn't have to worry about skeeters this weekend. lol.

Trying to figure out how to get out with this cold front coming in. My wife works all weekend so I get the kiddos. I can't even pawn them off on anyone else as my son got hand, foot and mouth disease this week. Plus, we have a wedding and birthday party to attend this weekend. Lots of deer season left is all that I am saying to myself. There will be more cold fronts!

Made it out this afternoon. Saw a young buck chasing a group of 3 does as I was walking in. Got within about 40 yards before he chased them off the opposite way. Good to be in the stand again!!!!!!

I've taken the girlfriend out a few times so far trying to get her first deer. Have seen deer everytime out and three mature bucks so far. Going to be tough getting one close enough though.

Have yet to see a deer. Buddy shot this guy last evening. First time ever hunting this piece of public ground. He saw 6 bucks total. Shot this one at 6:00 last evening. He had to quarter it out due to terrain and hunting alone. Didn't get done until 3:00 AM today!

Buck down!!! He's not gonna be much for score, but, I liked the unique rack and he's gonna start refilling the freezer. I'll get him scored tomorrow and posted but here are a couple pics.I decided to name him "Dr Hook"

    What a giant 8!

I saw 3 bucks this morning and I walked a 130 10pt. It was at first light and I am glad I walked him. He was a really nice deer.

Congrats on your Buck. That is definitely a strange looking rack. He must have bumped it pretty hard earlier in the spring. More points for the Team, NICE!!!

    Congrats on the buck Short!

I sat a spot this AM that has always produced for me in the early season. Nothing. Third sit, no deer. Heck, I haven't even seen a deer while driving since the season opened 10/1. I think I am cursed!

By the way, my buddy's buck ended up scoring 160" exactly which is enormous for an 8 pointer.
