i cut the sapling off with the chainsaw, when I spray round up it will take care of any new growth the deer haven't eaten. leaves I would work in or let them break down which will happen pretty fast once weather gets nice!
I have a 25' by 120' kill plot, I cleared it all by hand rake weeks ago, waitin for the weather to break to be able to spray weed killer. I got this stuff called killzall 41% glysophate. From what I've read an heard it works wonders.
Thanks guys. By saplings i meant new growth, the real small stuff. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
Like the small starts of a tree or bush or something? I'm tryin to figure out how to get past them also.
If it's real small stuff you can get a saw blade for your staright shaft weed wacker. Otherwise I hire someone with a dozer.
I do have one of those i could use, but the scraper blade on the tractor seems a little easier on the back Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
I burn it off, but we've been down that road before. I would hack and squirt w. Tordon RTU. You will not have to worry about regrowth if you use this. This only works during the growing season, it will not work well if you do it late in the fall or during the winter. The tree will absorb it in and take it down to the roots and kill it, but if you do it when the tree is dormant, it can't absorb it.
Now for round up, i want to wait until things start growing before spraying correct? And after i spray, how long should i wait to plant? 2 weeks? Considering it snowed again last night, i dont plan on spraying until at least the first week of April, probably the second. That gives me time to soil test and lime before the first week of May expected planting time. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
41% glyphosate (Roundup) should be applied when the grasses are green and growing at 1 -2 quarts per acre and AMS (ammonium sulfate) and Crop Oil may be added to increase the effectiveness of the herbicide. Generally it is best to mow the sod, allow it to start to re-grow and then spray when the grass is 4-6” high. In some cases a second spraying may be required but generally you can till soils within a week after spraying. I plan on spraying Round Up, then burning. I will cut down any unwanted bushes and saplings beforehand. Just removed 2 dead walnuts today, and a large dead black oak still needs removed.
