i bet the next coach has either UT pedigree or at the very least coached/played SEC ball after this fiasco

Kiffin appears to be a spoiled brat. He comes from big money and has made big money early in his life. He comes across as movie actor at times. It is like he is acting in a movie...hard to explain.

The problem is Hamilton can't drag out any coaches search since signing day is 3 weeks and coaches can begin to contact recruits again on Sunday. Hamilton said in his presser today that a coach would be in place by the weekend. He also said that Kiffin told him on Saturday that he was interested in the USC job and he begin to process of searching for a coach then. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out especially with the names being tossed around. There are some that I hope to God do not end up in Knoxville.

Best quote I've seen today was on ESPN and it said Kiffin was born on third base but acts like he hit a triple. :D That one actually made me smile.

USC is going to have a heck of a coaching staff with Monte coming in...what I can't figure out is how Lane is the head coach over his dad....I went to high school with Lane. Not impressed what-so-ever. What you've seen on interviews, tv, etc with him is only touching the surface of what this guy is really like. insert head shake here.

Looks like UT has their guy. Appears that Air Force's Troy Calhoun is on the way. Reports are he has called a meeting with his team, and that a topic of the meeting have not been released. My feeling is cautiously optimistic right now.

Definitely not a "sexy" hire, but he sure is a 180 from Kiffen. Should bring some discipline to UT.

He is not a proven recruiter, but I guess he could bring some in.

Not really sure this is who UT fans wanted though...

I've never been a UT fan. But, I've never been "anti", either.

Kiffin comes across to me as someone who was born on 3rd base.....but thinks he hit a triple.

Secondly....does his resume' warrant the appointments he's had??? Honest question.

Lastly....I'll get laughed at for this (by some). BUT....if I had a kid going to play football at UT....and I knew this coach was available....I'd contact somebody there and ask them to interview Mike Leach. Yes.....Mike Leach.

Being report by multiple sites that Calhoun has turned down UT.

    LOL

Looks like trusty ol' David Cutcliffe for the Vols.

Poor Tennessee, what few things they had going for them this year, are now gone.

Monte Kiffin's defense and studs Rico McCoy and Eric Berry are gone. Crompton who came on strong late is gone. Kiffin and his energy and recruits are gone.

And UT wasn't going to be any good next year anyway, Kiffin's energy and recruiting were the only things they had going for them.

I hate Tennessee. I wouldn't mind it if they never won another game and the school decided to shut down their program. But in the SEC you've got to respect a school like UT because of it's deep tradition and .. well.. thats about it.

But what Kiffin did was just dirty, UT is better off moving on.

Oh yeah- It's Great.. to be... A Florida Gator! :D

Watching him give his interview at USC was like watching a bad re run. I do not care about the ethics involved or any of that because the NCAA is the biggest PIMP there is...but this guy is a born Liar. He keeps saying I do not know what Ed has or has not done. I have not had a chance to talk to him...Well DA, you just rode 4 hours next to him on an airplane...I guess he was on the phone the whole time and you could not get a word in:rolleyes:;)

Look at his interview last night and the one he gave today...he said totally different things to the same questions.

I can't blame him. When he made those speeches and talks of program building at UT, he wasn't aware that Pete Carroll would bolt to the NFL at his dream job just a year later. He got a great chance to coach where he wants, and it could be argued that he even moved up the ladder in programs. The timing SUCKS majorly for UT, but then again can you blame him for the timing? It's not like he chose when Carroll would leave.

Sucks for UT, but I hate them enough that I'm grinning about it.

EDIT: If its true about him calling recruits already enrolled advising them to not go to class so they can transfer with him, then yea THAT is messed up!

The only thing I find hilarious is that he named his own SON Knox after Knoxville, and now hes goin to USC to coach on the west coast. lmao Its like havin a tattoo of your ex, it just can't go away easily.

So apparently Cutcliffe turned UT down as well.

Man this is starting to get embarrassing.

I heard this morning that UT has contacted my alma's coach, LA Tech's Derek Dooley. UT better stay the hell away from Dooley. He is doing some great things for Tech. Back off UT.

Yeah, I just heard the news.

Oh well, looks like my beloved Bulldogs will never have a good coach. I knew it was only a matter of time, but I was hoping to get a few more good years out of him, even though this year was a bad (mostly due to an insane amount of injuries).

Dooley is a good coach and is well respected. I think he will do good things at UT.
