No joke, our very own Phillip (gabowhunter) is a huge vols fan. He and I spoke earlier about this. USC is in alot of trouble with the NCAA and he may loose alot of scholorships. He was set to win at Tenn and they would have paved the streets in gold (see Nick Saban) for him. He came in, trashed talked Florida at every turn and almost beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa...He has a movie stat personality and will actually be going back home where he coached for several years under Carrol...Monte is going as well.

Sorry to hear that Phillip. :(

On a different note, when did you drop the Bear and get the Alphamax? I'm jealous.

I know the program will be fine, but dang it sure ticks me off. Having a head coach bolt like that after only 14 months. The question now is where does Hamilton go for a replacement and how many recruits jump ship? Signing day is Feb 2 which isnt far away at all.

I bought the Alphamax right before Thanksgiving. I still have the Bear but its now sitting in the closet. I love my new bow!

I'm beyond upset with this. I'm a Vol fan through and through. Kiffin recieved NOTHING but support from UT and the UT faithful, even when he was getting the negative press. His coaching abilities isn't what is going to hurt us, but him and Ogeron were recruiting masterminds. I'd hate to imagine how many recruits we have jump ship. Next year might be another rough on after all. I just PRAY we can land a solid QB, I can't stand Nick Stephens. He's terrible.

From what I have read, and heard Will Muschamp could be a strong possibility. David Cutcliff is probably in the mix as well, but honestly, I don't want to see him come back.

Matt the list I've heard of reasonable possibilities (because I've heard some crazy names mentioned as targets :cough: Gruden :cough: ) are Will Muschamp, Troy Calhoun (Air Force), Gary Patterson (TCU), Butch Davis and David Cutcliff. Personally I also like the idea of Kirby Smart (Bama DC) or Bud Foster (Virginia Tech DC).

Earlier in the college football season I said regardless of wins and losses, Kiffin is just a joke based upon personality and how he handles things....yup.

    Wow

How far down the list was Kiffen for USC? What has he accomplished as a coach that would make USC think this is a good hire?

I don't get it all the way around

A big ouch here IMO. The Vols are in scramble mode. Now they have to throw someone in there as quick as possible to steer the ship? Obviously not going to be a big name to persuade recruits on the fence right now. Maybe Peyton Manning will take the job?

as a lifelong Tide fan, I'm glad kiffin is gone, there are better coaches out there that actually care about SEC football... UT is a great football school, they deserve a coach that isn't a POS...

I didn't realize UT fans would be upset about this. I thought this was a "get out of jail free card" by him leaving on his own. Thats the media for you I guess. Most of what I heard about Kiffen was bad.

well, to be fair to UT fans, they might not have liked him, but they would have tolerated him if he was winning... his very close game against Bama and a pretty good run against florida early in the season kept the haters at bay as they would cringe and cheer for 'em anyway... after this though, now, i think they are venting some hatred and the folks that thought he was in it for the long haul feel betrayed and such... i can totally see how they are PO'd by this...

For me its not so much about being ticked about him leaving, I never thought he'd be at UT forever or even long for that matter. It is the how and the when that pisses me off. As a die hard fan though I got behind the coach, defended him at times, and bought into his talk of building a program. Not to mention bolting after 1 year and then having Coach O calling early enrollees on the way out the door and telling them not to go to class so they can transfer to USC. Not to mention it is 3 weeks before signing day. Ahh still ticked off.

Now its all about moving on and following the chatter about who is the next coach. Which at the moment is ALL over the place.
