I got an interesting video sent to me today of my niece. The little tyke lives in Houston and is the tomboy of my two nieces. When they were in town last we had Sloppy Does and I talked to her about my hunts. She loves telling her 4 and 5 year old friends about her Uncle Jay the hunter;) Sadly her father is an Ultra Liberal, non hunting, non second amendment supporting Momma's boy. When I got this video I almost fell out of my chair and had never seen it before. Has anyone ever heard of Mutton Bustin???

Mutton Bustin' is very popular out west. I'll bet if you polled Professional Bullriders a good percentage of them started on Mutton, then Calf's, then the real deal. :)

When BowTech sponsored the PBR I got to be good friends with rider Tony Mendes. He had his 5 year old son riding sheep every chance he got. It's fun as heck to watch live.

There's also an organization for it http://woolwarriors.com/

J, don't they still have that rodeo up by you? (wauconda maybe?) I know the P-tards were protesting it pretty hard for awhile... anyhow, my nephew did the mutton-busting there. They offered it to all the kids.

Yep, they still have it. It's actually held on the grounds where I hunt. A few years ago the bunny huggers made so much noise about Muttin Bustin' that they stopped doing it.

Back in the late 90's/early 2000's I used to do some volunteer work at that rodeo and the Muttin Bustin' was without a doubt one of the most popular, and most hilarious, events of the evening.

The tree huggers ruin everything.

Well, that sucks. Just another reminder of why I moved away from there.

Its a big deal down here in Fort Worth. They do it every weekend during the weekend at the stock yards. When I went to the PBR event a few weeks ago they had a serious mutton busting competition.

They do mutton busting all over Texas. My daughter Lily rode at the Mesquite rodeo one night. It was pretty entertaining! She did well and had a load of fun. She wants to go back and do it again. Flak vest and helmet are mandatory.
