I'll give you some advice my kickboxing Sensei Gomez gave me in San Antonio TX. Give 'em hell and don't hold back, because he won't. 2nd place in my first tournament. 1st place scoring one knock out in my second tournament. Disqualified in my 3rd tournament. The guy spit in my face. No shame in snap kicking a person in the face when they are already down. SO GIVE 'EM HELL!
I would love to know how wrestling is fake. That WWE and WWF wrestling is but this wrestling that we're talking about here is not.
The kid is very good and very young. If his skill set continues to improve and he stays on the right track he will be a force for many years. He definately has a natural talent for the sport. On a side note, the olympic trials are this coming weekend in Iowa City. It is the best wrestling the country has to offer and the absolute best wrestlers in the country will all make the trip and try to earn a spot on the 2012 olympic team. We will be rooting on my little brother as he tries to complete his life long goal to make the team. He wrestles at 74 kg/163.5 lbs. If you've never seen wrestling or been exposed to it I would try to take the time and watch some matches. They will be televised. It is a great sport that has taught my family and I lots of life lessons.
Good luck to your brother. A good friend of mine Lindsey Durlacher passed away last summer and he was an incredible wrestler. Was because of him that I had such a big interest in it. He was on the American team as well as wrestled at Iowa, & Illinois. He also coached the US Navy team for a few years. I hadn't seen him much the last few years because he was living at the US Olympic training facility in Colorado.
Sorry to hear about Lindsey being a close friend. I watched lots of his old matches and he was very good. I heard nothing but good things about him.
The first day of Olympic Trials wrestling action will be aired on Sunday, April 22 from 4-7 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. I found the coverage time on themat.com. It is cool that they are airing the event on tv. My brother competes on the first day. Sorry to high jack the thread.
