So heres something we hardly ever talk about here...the NBA... Ever since his one and done deal at Texas, i have been a huge Kevin Durant fan. And he is getting better and better every game he's played in the NBA. The Trail Blazers choosing Oden over him was a mistake, and its obvious now. Any other fans out there?
I'm pretty much of a fan of Kevin Durant because he is from Washington D.C. where I am about 30 minutes away. He went to a high school (Montrose Christian School) in same county where I live.
He is a beast, but at the time he was drafted, Greg Oden was a "safer" bet. Oden had freakish size and skills, but he did have some health concerns. Durant was incredibly talented, but his size worried alot of people. There was never a question of his skills, the questions were about how he would fit into his role in the NBA.
I was fortunate enough to play against this guy two separate times in school. The first was in an AAU tournament and he was your typical 6'9, lanky, uncoordinated looking 16 year old...the only problem was he could stroke 3s, shoot the pull up and handle it like a guard. The second time was at a camp and the coach said, "The Durant kid is pretty tough, we'll have to 'D' him up pretty hard"..yeah, that didn't happen :D He's just an unreal athlete and has an exceptionally high basketball IQ. Hopefully the Thunder will start winning or he'll get traded so he gets a little more exposure and the credit he deserves.
Flat out beast of a basketball player. Unfortunately Oden looks like he's heading for a career of off and on the injured list..... too bad. How about the biggest waste of talent the NBA has ever seen in Tracy Mcgrady?
Or Vince Carter, I love them both, but Carter only played offense and McGrady was always injured. Both could have been Kobe's if they put the effort in.
Resurrection time! I know this thread is old, But who else saw the Thunder at 28-21 with Kevin Durant averaging 30 PPG (besides me)!!!! DAMN! The only 2 reasons to watch the NBA. LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
I just wish he got more exposure. The Thunder are hardly ever on tv, but he's got them in the playoff race in the Western Conference and that's saying something. His game is just so smooth and he's such a natural scorer that if he stays healthy, he'll shatter scoring records.
