For the 4th weekend our family went to Mammoth Cave in KY. We took I-65 to Horse Cave and the country out there is amazing and really reminds me of PA. Saw a ton of deer on the side of the interstate just milling around. The caves are just astounding how deep and long they are. I didn't realize there were 400 miles to the cave system at Mammoth Caves. The people in Kentucky are really nice too. Everyone we met was really polite and courteous. It was nice to get away for a bit and see new places and faces. If I were to move somewhere from here in western PA it would definitely be to somewhere in KY. Oh and by the way, you guys in Kentucky have a real turkey issue. I don't know if it throughout the whole state ( I doubt) but there are turkeys everywhere. Driving through the national park we saw easily 50 turkeys in 3 days. One group was four toms and all of them had at least 11" beards. Incredible. Here in PA we have a good number of turkeys. We see groups of 20-30 birds every few years. Then they break up into a few here and there in the spring. I just couldn't believe the number of turkeys down there.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 6 years I spent living in western Kentucky while I was stationed at Ft. Campbell (although 3 years of that was gone for deployments or training). The countryside is beautiful, and lots of deer and turkey even on the public hunting grounds. I have Lexington and Louisville down on my list of places for the job search in three years when I retire from the Army. Although, Nashville area does have the top spot at the moment!

Great people in ky, we go there 3-4 times a year to Nashville and Kentucky lake area. Would be a great place to retire at for me.

I really enjoy living in ky.

I've had groups of close to 80 birds out in front of my stand in a field while deer hunting. I'm in the western part of the state. Not nearly as many hills as central and eastern ky but still nice.
