Dan I bought my native from craigslist with a nice fishing life jacket and werner paddle for $700. Not bad considering what they cost new. Worth a look. I tried out a Jackson one time and flipped it over within the first hour. All I did was reach around to get something out of my tacklebag. Decided to keep my Native. It's nearly impossible to flip my native. If you do flip it and it fills completely with water, it will NOT sink. Still floats.
I bought 4 Kayaks from ****s Sporting goods for out family 2 years ago. My kids were 8 and 10. They were able to scoot around in them easily. This is one of the best bday gifts i ever got for my kids. We use them for fishing and cruising. They were about $300 each. i wish i would have gotten an upgraded model sit-on for myself to fish out of, but didnt think I would like it as much as I do. In a few years your kids will be able to use one on their own, with you out there with them of course. Keep that in mind when purchasing, are you going to have to upgrade in a few years? Look into Wilderness Systems Brands too, good reviews. Ours are Future Beach 10 footers and are generally pretty slow, but durable.
My canoe is 14ft long and only weighs 41lbs. It will rock but not tip over. It has foam lining so it's fairly quiet and unsinkable. It also has oarlocks so you can row if you get tired of paddling. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Thanks a bunch guys. We looked at some tandem kayaks at the local Scheels last year and I'm almost positive they were the Wilderness Systems kayaks. I'm going to go and see if they have any in stock. If we like them and Austin Kayak has free shipping, we'll probably order from there to get the colors we want, unless we can special order them from Scheels.
i love my stealth boat. i mounted oarlocks on it for lake travel. You can literally do jumping jacks on the side and not tip it over. 000_0063.jpg Photo by bellis420 | Photobucket (not mine)
