Do you just rest it in the tank well or bungee it down?

I'd rather not cut holes in it. I'm sure it'd be fine but I can live without the flush mount holder.

A friend of a friend actual has that kayak. We're going to meet up and he's letting me fish a full day on it with all my gear. And he actually lives near the bay I would be fishing in this most often so it'll be a good test to see how it performs.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. What do you guys do with the fish you intend to keep?

I started with a 5 gal bucket on the back, but have switched to a floating basket, I also carry a line stringer incase of land something to big for the basket.

That's what I'm thinking. In the bays fishing for stripers a 30 pound fish is a very real possibility.

Dude...if you going to spend $500, buy the Ascend I told you about from BPS on the first page. Its the best in that price range. And the quality of the paddle doesn't matter that much as long as you get the proper length.

Once I get a paddle, and a life jacket I'll be in another ~75 dollars. So that's 625 plus the 95 dollar freight charge from bps will put me well over 700. Whereas these packages are 500 dollars plus free shipping. Could you just give an opinion on the two I posted above.

    Fine.

The Frenzy is what? 8 ft? So its shorter, lighter, will probably get blown all over the place, but it has open storage in the front, which is a plus.

Perception is longer, but 52 lbs is easily manageable. The problem with it is the dry storage up front is pretty much useless IMO. I like easy access to everything.

I, honestly, wouldn't buy either one of those, but would rather wait and watch CL for a better used kayak, but if you must have one of those, I'd go with the Perception just for the extra length that will help with tracking. That Frenzy is going to get blown all over the place.

The frenzy is 9 ft. And I have been watching craigslist religiously and there are no better boats than these for my application.

If I had to choose between these, I would go with the perception, it has a better rear storage bin, but I would not recommend buying either of these for fishing. My paddle cost $35 and works fine for fishing, you are going to want a front mount pole holder, I wouldn't use that life vest I would want something cooler for sitting and fishing. I think you would find that you would put more money into one of those trying to get it setup for fishing, than if you buy a fishing kayak up front and pay a little more in the beginning.

Unless you have kids or a wife who would want to use that after you decide you need to buy something else.

Well like I said, I'm going to try the frenzy and I'm hoping to draw some conclusions on what I would need in a fishing kayak.

Just got in from 6 hours on the water with the frenzy. Paddled about 1.5 miles to where I wanted to fish. Tracked very well and was nice and stable. Bay was pretty calm. My biggest concern was the wake from the big ferry knocking over my kayak. Ferry passed about 100 yards away and the kayak took the wake perfectly and didn't feel remotely close to tipping. Caught over 10 fluke and hit a limit of five fish. Maybe it's just my fishing style but I didn't miss a rod holder in front of me. Just had the milk crate with pvc tubes behind my seat. I'm sure the comfort level of the seat varies person to person, but to me it was fine. Not saying it's the most comfortable, and a more comfortable seat wouldn't hurt, but i experienced zero discomfort in 6 hours on the water. I'm positive there are better kayaks but for my needs this will perform very well. Will probably end up with the pescador as I would like a little more length and I like that it has the hatches for storage. Thanks for all the help.
