Not sure where sports stars can be worth this kind of money. I don't watch any of it anymore and would not go to a game even with free tickets.

This will end up looking foolish in the end. Along the lines of the Bears signing Cutler to an 18 million dollar a year contract.

    6 years, 126 mil with 60 guaranteed.

Your QB is your franchise player, the face of your organization and for the most part the individual most responsible for the success or failure of your team. In his first 2 years in the league he took the Niners to the SuperBowl and the NFC Championship game and was within a play or 2 of winning both games. The kid can play and should only get better with age and experience.

In an age of high powered offenses you get nowhere without an elite QB. Having a young one as dynamic as Koepernick is a major feather in your cap. IMO it was a good move by the Niners.

This sums it up for me.

His stats don't lie - He ranks as one of the best QB's in the league the last few years.

His play will decline since he got paid. I'm not sold on Kaep, I don't think he will ever be a top 5 guy. But, I also have an extremely bitter taste in my mouth lol

May I ask who your 5th best rated QB is now? Assuming the top 4 are Manning, Rodgers, Brees, and Newton.

    Wilson? Stafford? RG3? Luck?

    Rodgers
    Manning
    Brees
    Brady

    Newton
    Luck
    Rivers
    Roethlisburger

    Kaep
    Wilson
    Foles
    Cutler
    Romo
    Stafford
    Griffin

Too many experts are quick to throw younger more "hip" players at the top of their rankings. Brady and Big Ben may be on the decline, but I would still choose them to lead my team through the season and especially on a 2 minute drive over Kaep and all the guys listed with him.

As far as young QB's go, I have no problem putting Luck/Newton ahead of Kaep.

Brian Hoyer will be a top 10 QB this year. You heard it here first :)

Based on what other QB's in the league are getting paid I don't see a problem with the contract. I expect Kaep to get better every year and he has already proven he can win in the playoffs. I think Jim Harbaugh probably can evaluate an NFL QB better than a bunch of dudes in the water cooler section ;)

No way is this kid worth that kind of money. He hasn't even played two full years. The niners have done well because they have a good TEAM not because of colon kapernick.

He's going to get hurt. That's my main issue with him. I know he's a big dude, but a QB can't run the ball inside like he's been doing without getting hurt. If you take away his running, he will be a much more average QB. Plus, factor in the amount of cap space he will be taking up, the rest of the team will have to be downgraded to fit under the cap in the future. They won't be able to sign all the studs on defense. That defense has made him a much better QB than he really is. Lets not forget that Alex Smith had that team to a record of 13-3 and most likely in the Superbowl had it not been for Kyle Williams fumbling twice.
