Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism passes KAR 115-4-4. Under this rule change, all hunters will be allowed the option of using crossbows during archery season. KAR 115-4-4 will also allow hunting with all centerfire rifles and handguns, regardless of caliber, and all shotgun slugs, regardless of gauge.

Wow... Can't say I agree with that. Specifically allowing all center fire firearms. I am getting my Ruger LC380 outfitted with a scope for next deer season. Jeeeze.... :bash:

They've been kickin this around for sometime now. I have no problem with the crossbows but I'll agree with ya on the ALL calibers. Pretty odd IMO

Guess it's time to bust out the 22 short pistol for deer hunting...

Sounds like they're saying all Car 15s etc are legal hunting weapons. Can't ban them as assult weapons. LOL

Not impressed with the new regs, but I cannot see them halting my trip to Great Bend come November.

You guys should be happy they are adding to your liberties during this political climate rather than taking them away.

I think it is probably of little consequence that they are now allowed. Responsible, common sense minded hunters know what is right and wrong. Those who do not know right from wrong and will push the envelop with smaller caliber centerfire rifles are most likely the ones out there breaking those games laws anyhow.

I see this as a win for your and yours.

+1 Try MD on for size right now and just be glad they're letting you use your judgment in what caliber and rifle you choose to shoot!

No haha, but it just doesn't seem right to be able to use such small calibers on game the size of deer

I have seen many deer taken with a .223. I have taken one myself.

Most of the kids in my family started with .223 at 7 or 8 years old.

Not saying it's the best choice because it isn't, but it will get the job done.
