This bruiser was taken opening week. Sorry it was a muzzleloader, but impressive nonetheless. http://www.kansas.com/sports/outdoors/story/984480.html
Dang, my buddy just sent one that his buddy killed last weekend in KS with a muzzleloader... it scored 211. Maybe I'll go THERE this weekend :D
Doesn't he have to be facing it and looking at it lovingly for it to qualify? That is an awesome Mulie!!!
Ah, J.R. Dienst. I went to school with his twin daughters in Lakin, KS. J.R. is a true and through ass. Has more money than he knows what to do with, and has a "room" (about as big as my house) full of trophy's ranging from elk all the way to rhino's and zebra's. I have many stories of the A-Hole, but I won't degrade him on this forum in that way. I will say, however, that I wouldn't doubt one bit that the buck was tied to a tree....
I can't tell you for sure if it is, but I do know that down in the SW part of the state there are quite a few mulies running around. Even more-so the further south you go (the bottom 2 tiers of counties).
THAT is an incredible deer. I was actually unaware of such early muzzleloader seasons. Are they even open before archery? Crazy LOL Helluva deer though!
This year archery and muzzleloader both opened on Sept 21st. What sucks is that archers have to wear blaze orange during any firearms season. Archery runs straight through December 31st. muzzles end on Oct 4. But archery is the only season open from Oct 11 through Dec 10 when regular rifle season opens.
