Can you buy a nonresident hunting license over the counter for kansas. If so how much are they. If not what do you have to do to get one. I would like to go bow hunting in Kansas in the next 5 years

You've got Internet so why not go to their website and find out.

Pretty sure you can just buy the license but to get a tag is a lottery unless you can get land owner tenant tags. I am going in November and am hunting on an 80 acre property so the owner can get me the tags for about $30 I think.

You do have to draw but the state is divided into (I think) 16 units. You can apply for one unit and select one bordering unit to hunt as well. For the past three years there have been left over tags in most areas but not all. Total is just under $400 for a tag and a hunting license.

So what's the difference between a tag and a license?

License gives you the privilege to hunt and a tag gives you the privilege to "trespass", I guess?

Greg, I know when I hunted Turkey in KS I had to buy a license and then a Turkey tag. I'm assuming the license is like a general license and then you buy tags for the animal you hunt.

Kind of the same way I do as an IL resident. I buy a hunting license and then Deer or Turkey tags :)

Ahh... a "general" hunting license like a small-game permit, and then animal-specific stuff on top of that...

Yep, very familiar with that one, as I've had to do that with good ol' IL for years and years... makin' me double-dip and buy two tags to hunt one animal. :p

Corrrect, you'll 1st have to draw for a NR Deer Permit ($322.50), which has been 100% draw success as of late, and a NR Hunting License ($73.50). That's it for Whitetails

I know KS price on license and 2 Turkey tags was a bargain compared to a 2 limit NR Turkey permit from MO which I also hunt once in a while. Actually the price is one reason I have not lately. :)

I might have to wait till I get my tax money again before I can go to KS for one of them big bucks. I would like to go get a turkey this year but I don't think I have the money right now. Where would be some good places for a big KS buck on public land? Unless one of you guys has a farm and would let me hunt that :)
