    having watched both of those (though not religiously as I found them to be marginal television - lost in particular), I found it MUCH better... the characters are written very real as they are all actually real people from history... the events surrounding that time is accurate and it is portrayed with a great deal of historical accuracy... the cast is phenomenal and the writing is beyond reproach... it has a very Shakesperean quality to it in the meter and pace that it takes, particularly Swearengen's "soliloquies" which are often given under the most unusual circumstances...

    imho, it is without question one of the best written television series ever...

    For me, regarding both of those, yes, Deadwood was better. I wasn't a fan of Lost so that shouldn't count. I liked FNL, but Deadwood was better all around IMO.
