It's located in the corner of my property and abutted on the east side by CRP and the south side by farm fields, I think this year is corn. I have a pond on the west side of the plot and the stand sits in the SE corner of the plot. What do you all recommend be planted to get the does to stop and browse a little before hitting the crop fields? Photo will be uploaded shortly.

Squares in yellow are the food plot, the white dot is the stand and the lines are deer travel routes.

Schultzy, I'm giving up the Killin Fields for you this year brother. You are going to see some awesome bucks.

This is just my opinion but I would try Winter wheat, rye or triticale with a little clover thrown in with it.

did turnips back there before and were a dud (2 years in a row). Winter wheat back there got a little interest. I was thinking, what is that called.....brasicus?

The advantage of brassicas is the fact that deer generally will leave them alone until the onset of colder weather at which time the plot will become very attractive. That would work but I think you would need an earlier maturing plant something like Soybeans or Sorghum/Milo. Other suggestions oats, here in michigan were I hunt, the deer in my area destroyed my oats. I planted Evolved Harvest Pz's and Oats.

Brassics would work, they hit our last year before it got cold. Like buckhunter said though they usually get hit hard after it gets cold. To me it seems beans are one of their favorites but beans just don't last very long. How about clover?

Looking forward to the trip bud!

2nd food plot tilled and I'll be building a hunting shack there since there is an old shale pile next to the plot that is already 12' above the level of the plot.
