I was just looking through some of my old photos and found these, I figure that I would post them... Fawn.. Some PA elk..
Those pictures were taken out of the window of the car as they were laying just off the edge of the road. It is pretty easy to find them in the summer laying around residential areas. They are fairly tame and don't really mind humans too much.
Stole your pic, Sorry. The fawn is my wife's new desktop photo. The two ugly chicks are gone now. THnkgawd. (some band called tattoo?) Edit: Whats with its' hind quarter? Is that indent normal?
Steve, the herd is slowly getting a little bigger. There is a very limited amount of tags handed out each year, but each year their are some absolute slob bulls taken, literally world class size bulls. As far as the fawn goes, the hind quater is normal, it looks a little messed up because of the angle of the picture and the shading.
Thats from the PGC, I am guessing they collared it for two reasons... #1. Research #2. Prevent poaching
Neat pictures. Did you see the PA elk they just scored at a B&C scoring session in the Game News? Thing was VERY nice. My only issue with hunting them is how acquainted they've become of the local population. I just don't see it offering the same thrill as a spot and stalk western hunt would. Anyways, I'm getting away from the point of the thread. Where was the fawn picture taken?
I saw that bull Matt, that thing was a beast. They have become pretty tame, but I have heard that during the fall months they become more wary, I'm not sure if it is true or why it would happen. I took the pic of the fawn at Double Diamond Deer Ranch up in Cooks Forest.
