Congrats to both of you! She sounds like you've prepared her well for her future. Please convey my thanks for both of your service.
I sincerely appreciate all of the kind words, guys. I really do. To everyone who said tell her thanks, I want you to know that I did just that. She's at the airport right now waiting to board her flight and I was on the phone with her reading what you had to say. It actually cheered her up quite a bit. As luck would have it, she was the only one shipping out from MEPS Memphis today, so she went to the airport all alone. At first she was almost in tears at the thought of traveling alone for the first time. A huge part of me wanted to drive to the airport to keep her company until she left, but I knew that would probably do more harm than good. Goodbyes have already been said and she had accepted the fact that she had left. If I'd gone we'd have had to say goodbye all over again. In the end I ended up telling her it was time to "suck it up" and that feeling sorry for herself or being afraid of being alone wasn't going to change the situation or help her in the least. She's a smart kid and she understood that. That's when I read her what you all had to say. She said to tell you all thank you as well. When she gets to Great Lakes they'll take her cell phone from her and ship it back to me, but at least she'll have that until she gets there. Once she's safely there I will relax.
What job and branch did she pick? You got any questions about the military ill help you in anway i can. If she need's to buy anything when she get's out of basic let me know Im getting out soon and with my job have ton's of gear if she ever need's some she can just have it.
She's going into the Navy as a CTI (interpreter). I really do appreciate the offer, but I believe I know the answer to just about any question she'll have concerning the Navy.
